I'm not saying that they won't be very fine players - but again, its still a lottery and 'potential' at this stage is just that. If we were talking about 2 proven AFL players that were guaranteed to be coming to the Swans, it would be a completely different story.
And you can't compare us to Man U - recruitment within the Premier league is very different to that of the AFL. Have a guess where one of your golden boys (Giggs) did all his junior training pretty much before ending up at United? It most certainly wasn't part of the Man U youth team! For decades now, the big clubs in world football can pick and choose, often from a very young age, to ensure they get the best talent.
Whilst the academy obviously can choose players based on ability, we can't go and pinch them from other academies, or buy players in from overseas. And I'd like to see a list of players Ferguson sold just so he could give those younger guys a go. The whole moral of the story really is - if they are as brilliant as they supposed to be, they'll find a spot in the 22. We shouldnt just clear the decks for the sake of it (unless we are in a position where we have no choice).
