Just out of interest, is Eddie universally loved by most Collingwood members? Are the Collingwood members happy to have Eddie as President for life? Has there ever been in frustration by members of the Collingwood board towards Eddies conduct.
We may not rate him on Red and White, but I would love to know about his standing in his constituency.

I have a good mate who is a pies fan and he is really starting to get sick of him, they miss the finals a couple of years in a row and I think he'll be under some intense pressure

I agree. I don't think he will still be the President if Buckley is not the Senior coach. If Collingwood have a couple of down seasons, you will see Eddie spending all his time defending Buckley.
I think Eddie will hit the end at Collingwood when he has a board who all want to change the senior coach with only him in Buckleys corner. This occurrence is about five years away and will only happen if the Pies spend 3 straight seasons in the bottom half of the ladder.

My cousin is a Collingwood supporter and she doesn't like him. She has felt this way for years from when he was on the footy show.
To be honest, I have no faith in Gillion. I feel he is way to "melbourne", and really only got the job because the melbourne footy establishment lobbied for his promotion.
He is also a back-room dealer, always looking for the compromise rather than taking a stand. He'll never stand up to Eddie.
I am very supprised the search for a new CEO wasnt able to find anyone qualified outside the AFL. I dont think due process was followed.

Due process was almost never followed under Demetriou, everything was a negotiation - why should we expect a strong and upright CEO to emerge from such a process of appointment?
I am halfway through reading Ross Oakley's book - his description of the self interest of the presidents in the 80's, the "arrogant" broadcasters and the short sighted parochialism could all be employed to describe the AFL today.

From the postings I have seen on a recent forum on BF many Collingwood supporters are frustrated Eddie is not addressing Collingwood issues. There seems to be a divide. The mad mob are all for Eddie but those who still retain 'the little grey cells' seem to be very sceptical about Eddie and his motives. some of the comments reflect the concern of a majority of Collingwood supporters as to the onfield performances. There was also quite a bit of fall out in the deal to get Buckley as coach. Collingwood supporters still remember Tony Shaw's reign as coach after the club sacked Matthews. collingwood seem to have a knack of sacking premiership coaches for favourite sons and many Collingwood supporters I have spoken to are sceptical about the Buckley appointment.
Eddie has been very popular at Collingwood but I think from what i am reading that popularity is starting to wear a bit. Many supporters are very upset with the way he interferes in the Footy department. They are starting to believe he has an inordinate amount of influence at the club and not always for the best. There is the core group of brainless Collingwood supporters who would back Eddie without even blinking and this group is quite large. But to the thinkers at Collingwood there are some cracks starting to form. I was talking to a mate who follows Collingwood and he can't stand Eddie.
