Which is why we avoid the Bradman (and NOble) top decks like the plague.

Very hard to engender noise when clapping in gloves. I think I will try and invent noisy gloves for footy. There may be a future in that.

Technically I'd say it was a handpass.
However he kind of looped the ball as he was tapping it with his fist.
I wouldn't call it a poor decision by the umpire, but rather a desperate attempt to get rid of the ball in a way that would have certainly looked like he threw it.

If you stiched leather pads to the palms you should get some noise while keeping your hands a little warmer.

I doubt we'll see Jack back to his best again this year. He's still making some handy contributions but nowhere like the level we know he's capable off. I suspect the only thing that is going to give him the chance to recover is a long break, hopefully spent celebrating a second premiership. I am not sure whether one week's rest is going to make much difference. So long as he continues to make a better contribution than any of our reserves players would make, he just needs to stay in the team and contribute what he can. And while he's far from his best, he was still handy last night. Many players can only dream about reaching even that level.
Liz if I was wanting to see Kizza at his best in the finals I would be resting him up for a finals surge. If it is bruised ribs then he should have been rested for 6 weeks earlier in the season and someone has been very lax on occupational health and safety at our football club. Bruised ribs can turn into severe bone bruising very quickly if they are constantly hit. This can cause all kinds of complications. I would rather lose him for a few weeks to get his ribs right than to see an opposition player deliberately target his ribs and lose him for good for the finals.

Replay at the ground showed he handballed it to his feet. Bloody disgusting decision as it was very obvious and the umpire was right next to them.

unlucky...looked throwish but replays would tend to support a brushing of the fist on the ball.

How exciting was it to watch a team with so many raw, young and inexperienced players running around?

That was a finals like game given the hard, tough and contested nature of it and none of our kids looked out of place.

Cunningham and Lloyd have done it consistently all year, Gaz is building nicely, Towers is playing his role with the odd glimpse of magic, Membrey just looked like a player...really impressed with how he moved. This is on top of B.Jack and T.Mitchell playing in the NEAFL who we know are both capable and if Jones hadn't been injured no doubt he would still be playing as well.

Assuming there were no fresh injuries in the reserves and Buddy and Hanners are good to go we should be facing Port next weekend with pretty close to a full list to choose from.

It's a great time of the year to be nearing full strength and with such remarkable depth we should have the ability, if necessary, to rest a few of the sorer bodies in the final 3 games of the year...as long as we can beat Port that is. The kids stepping in will be absolutely raring to go because they know a good performance and an injury or 2 to senior players could mean the chance at a premiership medal.

Couple of other notes on the game...

Benny is a gun, he has become a real leader the last few weeks.

Parks was obviously stung by the criticism last week...played like a man posessed.

McVeigh limited the effectiveness of Heppell and also did some damage the other way...especially in the first quarter.

                Kennedy is untaggable.

Rampe is clearly still learning the game and his upside is massive...going to be a pretty special player in the next 5-6 years.

Jetta looked untouchable at times...can't remember him ever stepping out of tackles the way he did against the dons...cannot wait to see him on the big stages of September.

Pyke is building nicely...Reid's ruckwork seems to improve by the week as well...and his pressure pushing up to the defensive side of contests shouldn't be underestimated, he had quite a few important touches and half-intercepts tonight...his gigantic wing-span definitely helps.

Was that Goodes or O'Loughlin? magic

Tip will be better for the run and without a double team once Bud is back.

Just for people who live in Sydney or other non victorian areas. They had a good whinge on the radio about the 24 to 12 free kick ratio in favour of the Swans ON Friday night. Of course the 26 to 10 ratio in the 2012 GF was perfectly OK!!

There are 50 throws like that every game. Goodes was just upset his one got pinged.

Really? when I saw it happen I wasn't surprised to see him pinned, regardless of whether it was legit or not.
                      It didn't look legit.

For me the biggest annoyance these days is holding the ball, which seems to no longer be a rule.
Also the Swans need to learn to duck their head more - still a good chance for a free, even when clearly intentional, as seen today during the Hawks/Dogs game...

Just want to put the spotlight on Reg, He cops his right whack on here sometimes. It's generally fair enough but last night i thought he played another great game.
Pyke was another that did his job. Starting to take those contested marks again.

                        Benny and Parker BOG together.

Also just a note on Tippett. He is underdone at the moment but hopefully the fitness and movement will improve before finals. Also the reason Goodes is able to pop up and find room and goals in the F50 is because Tippett is double teamed or leading into space to create room

Agreed, he seemed to have more time, with ball in hand, than anyone else on the field. He was able to consider his next disposal rather than just "bang it on the boot".

Obviously being subbed during the Hawks game did it's job

I watched a recorded replay last night.

Did anybody else notice a very proppy Jetts heading down the race/stairs on the way to sing the song. He appeared to be the last player going down and had the camera right at the back of his head and it was bobbing up and down in that definite way someone moves while descending stairs with a sore ankle/knee/hip.

There was an incident during the game when he pulled up sore but carried on. Hopefully he's alright for Port.

In the Herald Sun Jon Anderson said that we won ugly like we are used to. I might be biased but I think the way we have played the last 3 years has been far from ugly!

I saw some of the Melbourne v Brisbane game...now that was ugly!
