I just read that too but didn't really understand it. Is she saying the LARS graft hasn't worked? Could someone with some knowledge on the subject clarify it for those of us that are less informed...cheers!

Poor guy - hope he gets his long-term health sorted first, with footy a distant second at this stage of things.

Very sad. Ive got no experience in this area so I'll leave it up to others to shed more light on the situation.

              Oh no, poor AJ

Devestating news for AJ and for the whole Swans community - we all want to see him back on the park and doing what he does best - playing footy!

Sounds like it may be exceptionally hard to get right - it sounds like the graft has taken, but he keeps getting infections attacking the graft before it fully takes.

              Awful news

This is a very interesting case, in terms of a a benefit that exponents of the LARS graft, don't have it working how it should.

Advocates cite the "fact" that if the LARS ruptures, it can be replaced with another LARS & with the accelerated rehab permitted by the LARS, the player doesn't spend as much time out of the game.

Without knowing Alex or his surgeon, the "infection" could conceivably be his body's reaction to a foreign material (the LARS material - while bio-compatible, it can sometimes elicit an inflammatory reaction).

Quite possibly, the traditional graft is the only option which would see a return likely for the 2016 season.

I know every team does it but it's still good to see the boys getting around Alex via twitter...the word 'resilient' is getting thrown around a lot.

An infection that they haven't been able to remove - that sounds scary. Terrible run of luck.

Even better to see opposition players get around him. Phil Davis is one - Tony Armstrong too, but as a former teammate it's probably a little different

Hard to see the road back from here (again).

                        Horrible news for him.

Bad news on top of bad news. I have great admiration for his determination and mindset, and hope it goes right for him this time. He showed the makings of an outstanding player and I long to see him fulfil his potential. All the best Alex.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Terrible news, but his strong character, and amazing attitude, tells me he will come back from this.

                              Best of luck AJ.
