    Omens

I was walking down Degreaves Lane this morning and a white feather floated down from above and landed on me.

..and then I found $5 (this is crap, but the feather story is true)
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

    You want an omen?
I've been miserable because I couldn't afford to go to the game.
A friend just called me with 4 tickets that her boss gave to her
    Come on the Swans!!!

Like Harvey after being tackled by Rohan.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Sept 2012 appendix removed and Swans win flag!
Sept 2014 gall bladder removed and Swans will win flag!
I'm running out of non-essential body parts for 2015 finals series.

I had an eye on the Scottish referendum - a win to the Scots = a win for North, and a win to the red and white of the English flag would be a win for the Swans. Apologies to any Scots in mourning but I was obviously hoping for a red and white win.

Last 4 Swans Grand Finals '96, '05, '06, '12 the winner reversed the result of the immediate last game involving the same two teams. Swans lost its last game to Hawthorn this season at the MCG in Round 18.

Last 3 Swans Grand Finals, the team will the longer premiership draught has won. Sydney's last flag was 2 years ago, Hawthorn's was last year.

The good news: the team that's had the larger preliminary final win, has won the grand final in 5 of the last 6 years (the exception being last year).

The bad news: in 2007, one side crushed North Melbourne by over 70 points in the preliminary final, and the other side squeezed through its preliminary final by less than a kick.

I've got another: the GF is the 3rd week in a row that we'll be facing an opponent who, the previous week, had led by a large margin well into the final quarter and then gave up the last several goals of the game in order to just fall over the line. Freo: 40 points, ultimately winning by 8. North Melbourne: 31 points, ultimately winning by 6. Hawthorn: 29 points, ultimately winning by 3.

The first 2 times turned out okay.
