Same here about Hawthorn supporters. I had a group in front of me chanting "Cola Cola" at Buddy every time he took a kick or marked the ball. When Lake tried to bury Buddy's head into the MCG they all stood and cheered. Plus they all stood and booed Goodes every time he went near the ball. On top of the thrashing it was the most horrible afternoon I have ever spent at a footy game.

They are the most feral, obnoxious, loud mouth, ugly supporters in the AFL.

As Stella said pre-game, who in their right minds does that anyway? But when you're in the process of watching a sublime performance by your team? There's got to be something wrong with these people, hasn't there?
I just don't get it either Liz. I yelled at one flog in the corporate box behind me late in the last term - who was sprouting some pretty feral vitriol towards Goodesy - I turned around and asked him 'do you support your team or are you just a racist pig?' Didn't hear any more from him after that. Just awful behaviour, when they should have been shouting and supporting a truly great performance from their team, they were too busy with rubbish like that.

This may be of interest to some : AFL has a problem with racism, sexism and homophobia

What is depressing are the many comments on that article condoning the behaviour of the people at the ground. Racism, sexim, homophobia or the like are NEVER OK! How hard is it for these bogans to get it through their thick skulls?

I have the utmost respect for the Hawthorn Club, but none for their fans. They are now on my 'don't bother' list for away games as I'm sick of their behaviour, and I'd hate to imagine how arrogant they'll be come our first meeting with them next year.

Couldn't really afford to come down this year with family of four but did it anyway, could only find a dodgy motel in Preston at inflated GF PRICE , managed to get two tiks in ballot at $450 . $150 for standing room is too much.
Stayed an extra night in St Kilda at a 4 star for $100 when game over.
Still had a terrific weekend away, just so flat about the footy , after the pleasing (Horse speak) effort to become minor Premiers .
I do wonder how many took a sleeping tablet. Pressure wise , Melbourne throws the kitchen sink at the interstate club in a Granny.
Hawthorn are GF Specialists now . Will be hard to beat again .

I hope Plugger 46 posts on the issue of Hawthorn supporters. He and his family experienced their worst day ever at the footy. Sitting amongst only Hawthorn supporters they had to put up with a non stop barrage from a few bogans sitting directly behind them. Calling Goodea a drug dealer and anything else they could think up with the vitriol directed at them. Apparently a security guy said something at some stage and he was videoed and reported by someone but appears the other gutless Hawthorn rabble around them did nothing.

There are a lot of swans supporters that had bad experiences with those flogs including myself and my dad.

My brother told me that he read about a Collingwood supporter that was in the hawks standing room who reported to security about disgusting language towards Mal. The offenders were kicked out.

I just don't understand how when your team is playing so well and you are going to win the premiership (or any game) that you waste your breath on the opposition and their supporters. When we won both our GFs are didn't even take any notice of the opposition. Yeah ok our wins had a smaller margin but still. And trust me they don't just do it to us. I've been to plenty of their games against Geelong.

It's funny, the winning players always thank their fans and say that they love them, yada yada yada, but honestly, it goes to show the Hawk players have NO IDEA what their own fans are REALLY like. You would like to think most level headed AFL players would be disgusted at the purely nasty crap that some of these flogs can spew forth. I know the Swans players would be, if we did that. We are loud and passionate, but not feral, low IQ, nasty bogans. Swans players and fans have class.

Agreed. Hawthorn supporters are the worst and were extreme yesterday. This made the GF experience even more upsetting. Despite the fact that yesterday was so disastrous, we need to hang in there with the club and fight on next year. We also need to fight back against clubs like Hawthorn and Collingwood and their leaders and supporters who are so vocal against the swans and our so called privelages. Boy it is hard living in Victoria and following the Swans and hearing the daily smashing we cop from ignorant Victorian supporters on daily talk back. Let's get our voices out there and defend our team. Let's reverse the thinking. Why do Hawthorn get to play a grand final on their home ground? Why are there so many Victorian teams that need propping up? Why does the AFL executive have to be based in Melbourne and why are they so influenced by people like McGuire? The level of hatred on tonight's news from Hawthorn supporters towards Buddy and the Swans was sickening. They seemed to focus more on revenge than on the joy of winning. Let's never become like them but let's challenge them when we hear their lies, hatred and racism in the media. Go Swans 2015

I always thought that Mark Ricciuto was a pretty good football player, but quite a dunce. His media performances have only reinforced this opinion. I can't remember him ever making a halfway intelligent remark. I don't know all the details of the Sando sacking, but that doesn't seem all that bright either. Now he's written this rather unflattering article about the Swans that puts him in the Eddie McGuire class IMO:

Nice how the Melbourne media like to constantly bring up how Melbourne is the spiritual home of the Swans. This is why i hate teams being relocated. Swans found a home in Sydney, but it is perfectly obvious not according to melb media.

                    anyways, go the swannies

Luckily I didn't observe this behaviour at the Grand Final this year, but the exact same thing happened at the qualifying final in 2013. So many chants of a racist, sexist or homophobic nature. So and so is a faggot, go back to Mardi Gras, So and so takes it up the arse. What I found most shocking though was the younger supporters who would have been maybe 7 or 8, a young boy stood up and started saying the same thing. I turned around to the guy who started it and said "Are you proud of yourself? Look what you've done, kids are saying it now too" and he just told me to turn around.

From that moment on, I vowed NEVER to attend a Hawthorn home game. I know it's not the club's fault, but I'm not going to sit through that crap. In contrast, I was at the Richmond game in 2011, and the Swans got murdered and a father was there with his son. They were barracking very loudly, Richmond won the game and his son stood up and said something like "haha" and he told him to sit down and not to make fun of the other team when they lose as it's disrespectful. If only more parents were decent citizens like him.

I must've been living under a rock during the period when Lake, Gibson, Burgoyne, Hale, McEvoy were all drafted and nurtured by the Hawks as juniors. And if Frawley is nabbed by the Hawks as has been reported this morning I suppose that's just due to the altruistic nature of the Hawthorn club who are performing a great service by rescuing Frawley from a nightmare situation

A very sad trend in the game.

We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Yeah it's really not getting any better for me as the days go on. In fact it's getting worse. I feel like i'm in a never ending nightmare.

I woke up this morning thinking "well time to get on with life" then had a thought for the team who have to wait half a year before they can try to get some redemption. I was really annoyed by the party atmosphere at the GF dinner on Saturday but today I bet the private hurt is really settling in. On the long drive back we were saying that this will either be the making (like the Cats) or breaking (Port) of the club as it faces its biggest crisis for at least 15 years.

It's not just the players that have to regroup. At the dinner it was amazing how often Horse was sitting by himself - the look on his face didn't encourage me to go over and talk.
