He is talking @@@@ of course but I am happy it basically confirmed that legal action is on the agenda.

More than happy for the judges of the legal profession rule on this matter.

Another interesting matter. Sam McClure is reporting that Collingwood will be offering GWS their 1st round pick this year for Treloar, and next year's 1st rounder to Brisbane to get James Aish. 'Lucky' for Collingwood that the rules were just changed to accommodate the trading of future picks just in the nick of time when they wanted to get 2 top rated midfielders. Sometimes the breaks just fall your way.

Eddie is a great Collingwood president. His timing always seems impeccable. Doors just open up for him wherever he goes. And he can make other doors slam in someone's face as well. Don't like the equalisation tax. No problem. Don't pay it. Equalisation is for losers. As are trade bans.

Eddie is at his best by creating an idea in other people's minds. "We're sick of the Swans taking **US** to court. Another bullet for morons to rant about Sydney and bring more pressure for all AFL HQ employees, including umpires, and all AFL supporters, to dislike the Swans.

Eddies puppets like, Dermott, Darcy, Brian Taylor and others just speak absolutely crap most of the time but their job is to continue jabbing at Sydney trying to isolate the club.

Remember we are the South Melbourne Football Club, morphed into the Syndey Swans Football Club with a 141 years of VFA/VFL/AFL history.

Stand up now and be counted!????

Seems like we're edging closer to taking action on this ban...http://www.theage.com.au/afl/sydney-...19-gj2y4t.html.

As for McGuires inference, that the only reason clubs like Melbourne and Carlton are languishing is because of preferential treatment to the Swans...

Just a pathetic attempt to get these other Victorian clubs to rally behind him and join the anti Swans fest.

The guy just 're tools' himself daily.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there are those in the AFL, or closely associated with it, who are very happy for it to be an AFL, as long as the teams outside Victoria don't do all that well.

What's missed in this article is that Melbourne and Carlton aren't consistently poor because of us signing free agents, they are poor because they have managed themselves dreadfully as clubs. That has nothing to do with free agency, COLA or anything else, that's just poor front office management.

I don't know why I overlooked mentioning this little tidbit before:

Collingwood CEO Gary Pert is a director of Pacific Star Network, the owner of the 1116 SEN radio station.

The balance of power, particularly in the shaping of public opinion in the AFL community, is so heavily weighted toward the McGuire clan, it's hard to see how we can win in the long run. The deck is really stacked against us. Eddie's got his people everywhere it counts.

Should they head to court, their case would have merit, said Sydney sports and commercial lawyer Kane. While Kane accepted the restraint of trade argument, he said it was up to the players, not the Swans, to make that case. He said the fact no restrictions were placed on Greater Western Sydney would help the Swans show that the sanctions placed on them were unreasonable.
"They've got a very arguable case," Kane said. "It's an apples and apples comparison with GWS. It'd be up to the AFL to demonstrate why this restriction should be imposed on one Sydney club and not another Sydney club. That might be a difficult hurdle for them to overcome.
"Why should one get it and the other one not? It's all a bit puzzling."

Correct me if I am wrong on this. Fitzpatrick we know has a digit in ANZ Stadium but I believe he also has an interest in Ethihad Stadium. This is the venue that had or still has a very skewed contract with the AFL that sees clubs that play there lose money when the crowd is below a certain figure. Surely this is a huge conflict of interest and profiteering from a lofty position. Funny how his mate Ian Collins landed the plum job of managing the joint, and was clearly doing the bidding of someone or entity that wasn't in the interests of the clubs using it.

                      FIFA ring a bell!!!!

I would really like to see that. I was quite shocked by his on 'bake' on Monday night, started by, 'I'm sick of the Sydney Swans' and went on to peddle the untruth that the Swans stockpiled COLA money to pay for the signing of Buddy and KT and that every other club (meaning the Melbourne Clubs) had a right to be indignant. He more or less said that we had exploited a loophole to the max and fully deserved sanctions. The implications were that we are cheats and don't have the respect of the other clubs anymore. I was left wondering if he or the Channel could be sued for defamation!!!

                          This.

I'm wondering this too. Why can't we take these so called media experts to task about the lies and crap they spew.

Maybe there's someone on here that knows more about the defamation laws than me that could explain why people such as Darcy can spew outright lies and not be held accountable to it.

To be fair on SEN they have been just as vocal about the trade ban as we have (apart from Dermie of course). I have actually been pleasantly surprised at their outrage.

Today KB and Jon Ralph were discussing Dangerfield going to Hawthorn and KB said he can't go there, they can't get Lake, Frawley and Dangerfield when they may have won 3 premierships. A Hawks fan rang up and said why not we have plenty of money from losing Franklin and KB said its nothing to do with money the AFL won't allow it the swans have 2 million dollars and they can't trade. Thought it was an excellent comment needless to say Hawks fan was not impressed.
