Back onto the COLA situation. I found the following stats on average wages in Melbourne and Sydney (among other locations); http://www.roberthalf.com.au/EMEA/Au...ry%20Guide.pdf. The fact that wages are higher in Sydney is indicative of the higher cost of living.BTW I don't mind that the COLA has been removed and replaced with a different system. I just wanted to highlight to all those anti COLA people that it is in fact more expensive to live in Sydney.Comment

I also fail to see why someone in AFL management needs an AFL background. It should be run like a business not a big football club. This of course doesn't mean that any business person can run it as it is different to many businesses.Comment

He complains that the Swans didn't have to pay market value for Heeney yet doesn't seem to have an issue with the Pies' entitlement to Moore for under market value.Comment

The Ed quotes are bizarre. On the one had he suggests that the ban had little basis, but then suggests that this modification represents a "win" for the Swans.

You can bet that he will be in the ear of Gillion at some social function over the long weekend. He will also be discussing the issue with other Club Presidents and the AFL Commission at probably the same social function on the weekend. Perhaps the "AFL Boys Club" are going sailing this weekend. Nobody at the Swans will have a spot on that boat.
He won't stop the public and private Swans lampooning until Academy changes are announced.
Now I ask the Red and White community:
Are you backing Gill to see this through or would you like an NFL executive with no pre-existing political ties.
You all know who I would have gone for.Comment

Look out! Eddie is framing an argument that the AFL is giving favourable treatment to the Swans. He describes the latest version Swans Trade Ban as being "struck by a lettuce leaf". He then takes aim at Heeney and the QBE Swans Academy.

Below is the email I sent on this matter to the AFL via [email protected]:
"Dear Sir/ Madam
I just read an article on the SEN website about the lifting of the trade ban on Sydney.
I have two points that I would like to have clarified, if I may,
Firstly. what happens if a player, who currently earns more than the acerage salary is traded from Sydney to another club, e.g say Sam Reid, would Sydney be able to enter into negotions for a similarly proced player?
Secondly, I contacted SEN, however they could give me a definitive answer as to why the ban was enforced or necessary given that all parties agree that the Swans did nothing wrong. The only explanation they could provide rang hollow as they seemed to believe that the Swans had abused the COLA yet clearly their accounts must be in order if the AFL are satisfied they did nothing against the rules. I believe that the 40,000 Swans members are entitled to some explanation from the AFL as to why this decision was originally made, especially.if there is no fault"
I am totally confused by this whole business, why it was instituted initially and why the Swans did not exercise their right to go to court and contest it.Comment

Just as I suspected, Eddie is already back on the academy crap. That's why I thought it was better to take a meaningless hit on this trade ban and save our ammo for the next battle. Then it will be our turn to tell the AFL: "You can't have everything."

About what I expected (the result of the negotiations)
AFL had no choice to bend a bit as whilst there was no outrage in the football community, there were a LOT of commentators being gobsmacked by the perceived unfairness of the situation.
AFL needed this to go away and they achieved that because .....
..... the Swans decided to be weak as piss and accept being unfairly bullied.
The Swans let it be known fairly well through their actions and inactions that they weren't going to do much about this and would be submissive.
Sad and embarrassing for all Swans fansThe difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

I would not be trusting the AFL to back the Swans. I think the noise needs to be stopped from Eddie.
Maybe a deal can be reached.
Eddie gets a photo opportunity with Adam Goodes a well-known Melbourne eatery and a fluffy newspaper piece about old mates making up in exchange for getting off the Swans back on the Academy. Eddie would love the positive public image far more than derailing the Swans Academy.
This is just my opinion.Comment

Restating it won't likely change that.
It's not even an original idea. Tetley tea based a whole ad campaign around such a concept. Paul Kelly & Libba faked sharing a cup tea on TV ... hasn't improved their relationship.Comment

Are there any better ideas to stop Eddies noise?Comment
