I'm not sure, either. However, it seems that we may have a lot more ammunition in this fight that I thought. I wonder if there is something strategic going on here in the release at this moment in time? I think that we may have some master strategists at the club (we got Tippett and Franklin without anyone suspecting!) so I am inclined to think that someone at Moore Park has been sitting in a big chair and stroking a cat and just waiting for the right time to pull the pin on this. The time is obviously now, so I look forward to see what wheels have now been put in motion.

We've ALWAYS had all the ammunition in this fight.
      Always. Always. Always.
We've never done anything that has been against the rules.
The Tipoff and Buddy contracts were both approved by the AFL.
Other than, "we wanted Buddy to go to GWS", the AFL have absolutely nothing to fall back on.
Seems that, thanks to Dicky speaking out, they have bigger problems now.
That's why Eddie is backing away.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I would have been prouder of Richard Colless if he had been brave enough to make this public before he left the club - what he has said has confirmed a lot of what i had thought re AFL - i gather he spoke to the club before he made the announcement ? Will be interesting what Pridham has to say - the fact he also went to Herald Sun instead of the Age and Carolyn Wilson was surprising - but then given her relationship with Mike Fitzpatrick maybe not

This is a pretty huge story. He's basically accusing the AFL of corruption behind the scenes to manipulate the Buddy-GWS deal.

I think our approach to the trade ban and the Goodes issue has been almost identical. Play nice, hope it goes away and then come out guns blazing.

              Brilliant timing and execution.

              A) Releasing it at the time he was involved in the club would have meant more payback from the AFL, or even last year during the trade ban discussions would have seen a far worse outcome on them and the Academy

              B) Fitzpatrick is already in the sights of the AFL media this week and now a few have joined the calls for him to resign over this. He can't defend himself (as he'd be lying). Silence will encourage more to pile in.

              C) The other question Colless subtlely opened up is: who was orchestrating the details of the Buddy to GWS illegalities at the AFL? Fitzpatrick might have been encouraging the outcome, but my guess is Gill the Dill was in charge of operations, so he can't even stick his head up to defend Fitzpatrick because first question will be: were you aware of it?

And Pridham can sit back and say he or the Swans had nothing to do with the yarn.

              Bravo Colless, bravo Swans.
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

Brilliant, just brilliant timing from Colless because right now Gil the dil and Fitzpatrick are on the back foot and being attacked from all angles over the lack of support for Goodes.

Media scrutiny of Fitpatrick has been damning in his performance.

Every fair minded person, including Eddie knows that the trade ban was grossly unfair given we had done nothing wrong. The AFLs pathetic attempts to justify it didn't make sense.

Eddie is now worried that the AFL is supporting expansion teams even more than he thought as well as Hawthorn. No wonder Hawthorn are the running dogs for the AFLs anti Swans agenda.

Eddie will be very worried that his beloved Pies won't be contenders again in his lifetime. GWS is a juggernaught about to roll, GCS will mature and come hard and the continual propping up of Hawthorn is disgusting.

I wondered how Hawthorn kept getting nice deals done with GWS, now it appears the AFL was greasing the rails!

Hope the media go long and hard on this. Also hope Colless recorded what he could of THAT phone call. Wow, I'm still stunned.

Can Vic RWOers please keep us informed what McGuire says on radio.

I wonder if the timing of Richard releasing this information has anything to do with a player earning over the league average wanting either in or out of Sydney.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Can't see anything coming out of this, Fitzpatrick is Melbourne blue blood, the oldest of old boys and he will simply just ride this out

Change the sex and location and that's what they said about Bronnie.

Colless has done this for a reason and it won't go away. I'm curious why he gave it to the Hun first, unless it was simply because he knew Caro would pick up and run with it, too?

Richard could not have done it as a club chairman but now he's retired he thinks he can. But don't think the club isn't aware of the end game. And, as I said earlier, Eddie's remarkable statement sounds like a withdrawal of support from Fitzpatrick - so there's the other half of the media gone.

Actually, he is West Australian. But clearly wants to be a Melbourne blue blood. Funny, I was talking to a Melbourne supporter, in April, about how corrupt I thought the AFL commission was (because of some dodgy mining lobbying the AFL commissioners had done in Vic. and been caught), and he laughed, and said" You thought anything else of Mike Fitzpatrick???"

Eddie makes me laugh..."?'ll keep my powder dry for 24hrs".
Since when has Eddie needed to wait before he voices an opinion?

Eddies thinking "What is the best outcome for the Collingwood Football Club and a couple of crumbs for the other VFL clubs". Now that I have decided lets spin it as hard and fast as we can.

                              Good old Collingwood forever.....
