I agree. I can only assume that they have full confidence in at least two out of Richards, Aliir and Davis to make it in the next couple of years. There were players selected after Rose who I thought might have been more appealing; Clem Smith, Teia Miles, Caleb Daniel and Jack Lonie.

from his video highlights James Rose appears to play quite a bit like a Jed Lamb and in the strangest way he reminded me a little of Jude up at HFF
BUT who knows what possie James will play in the future as we we have Harry, Towers, BJack that can all easily play as small to Medium forwards
Rohan and Zac appear to be our replacements for Shaw and Mal ?? but a medium to small forward can certainly end up in the back line like a Daniel Pearse........ we also had Harry C in the backs learning his craft first year"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Membrey was a medium forward. He was basically the old fashioned FF. I think there is still a place in the game for that sort of forward but obviously Longmire doesn't. This bloke is 186cm not 189. I think he might just be a good crumber and specialist forward. We have been lacking that lately.
I just watched his highlights reel. I must say I was disappointed by that. He gets the ball a bit but seems to be very much an outside player without any great speed. He seems to also be quite crap in disposal. In the reel he was bloody terrible in hitting up targets. I thought we were after players who knew how to hit up a target not crap deliverers. Sorry but I think Kinear got this one wrong. Bloody bad choice as far as I can see. If you are in SA and think differently please inform.
his highlights reel reminded of Matty Dick. Bloody poor!Last edited by wolftone57; 27 November 2014, 09:11 PM.Comment

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I can't see him playing as a halfback, without dramatic improvement in his kicking and decision making.
On the upside, he certainly plays with attacking intent, seemed to have pretty good acceleration off the mark, has good strong hands...And leads, jumps and marks well.
So plenty to work with....Over to you Crouchy and co.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

According to the Sturt Football Manager in Inside Football: "One of those kids that can do the unexpected and turn a game with miraculous play purely through his athleticism. Needs to work on the defensive side of his game. Has a lot of untapped ability."Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

wasnt goodsey pick 37??? a kid with untapped ability.. so who knows he is only 18 and there to fill a void... we werent looking for a ready made senior list player... as much as year in year out we always go wtf?? kinnear what are you doing... he doesnt have a bad strike rate...Comment

I mean no one says this player is totally crap with a liking for going on the turps!!
We need defenders, not forwards, and this may be the case.
Still we already have the players we need.doof-doofComment

I think this year we drafted from within with no real plan to fill any keys backs.
We needed a ruck , and key backman, two mids
This draft was loaded with talent we were told and swans pick 37,38 would not push out any of the swans current mids that can play their roles. We gave away player that were in thous roles.
Gf backs were smashed and ruck not much better.
We need a master stroke in the rookie draft for an key backman or ruckman. The ruck is the position we can,t replace if pike go down all this year. The Hawks picked up the only real ruckman in the draft as a late pick for nothing amazing . Appears we are not going to need any more backman maybe coach has idea to fill the roles with reid , rohan and Alex coming back with xavier in the wing . The ban on the draft has killed any hopes of a ready made replacement for mel this year would appear done. With dunks son, and another mid already with Isaac Heeney. And Callum next year key backman replacement is the highest priority looking forward more likey now we ran out of time its going to come from within or another club to fill any needs we may have in coming years and we have some salary room to buy if needed if draft ban is worked out. Looks like we will go into next year with a strong list to play for the flag with bit of luck of no real ruck issues we given a chance again. We need to see more players like Zak , tom getting a runs with maybe a few games for Xavier then all is not lost. We see what rookie draft may unearthing a few gems. Welcome to all the new swans and we wish them all the best .Last edited by swans; 28 November 2014, 12:39 AM.Comment
