Sorry to hear that he has moved to the Dark Side

I think he handles smaller investors not large institutional ones. There may be some scope for Leo to fulfil his social contract. Not sure what his smallest clients are worth. A friend of mine worked at Goldman Sacs and the minimum client wealth they would manage was five million in cash.

Ah, good old Goldman Sachs, working to fulfill the social contract. How's that going for him?

Sad to hear that, because it means come the revolution his head will be off with all the rest of them short-sighted, growth-driven, planet busters.

Leo works at Merrill Lynch not Goldman Sachs.

People here a very sceptical of investment banks. Leo through his position may make his way onto Charity Boards and may facilitate sponsorship of the arts. This is good for humanity.

Leo unfortunately does not have the power to stop India, Brazil and China from developing their middle classes. This is what is impacting the planet, not Merrill Lynch.

So I guess that we'll all have to bail India, Brazil and China out when they back themselves into unsustainable subprime mortgage positions . . . but I guess if they chip a few bucks to the opera every now and then, well, their hands are clean. I admire your chutzpah in defending the indefensible!

How can Leo or Merrill Lynch stop the desire of people in highly populated third world economies to "want more"? We all want more! Communism does not work because we are all greedy by nature.

                  Karl Marx has been delisted.

Leo is a stockbroker. Stockbrokers are salespeople. I would no more blame or credit Leo with regards to anything that happens in the global economic landscape than I would credit or blame the salesperson behind the counter at my local chemist with regards to developments in the global health and medical industries.

                      Well put Jono.

I think Leo's transition to the corporate sector has been wonderful. He is off the football drip and has a new revenue source going. He will end up making more money over his lifetime than Buddy.

I'm sure he is dynamite at client lunches talking about having the key moment that won a Grand Final, busting his spleen and coping ear bashings from Rodney Eade.

What about [someone] Wheeler? Played in the early 90's, I think his family were African American? You used to see his mum in the crowd. Anyone know what happened to him?

Didn't he used to ride his skate board to the SCG on game day?

Sanford Wheeler .... I'd like to know how his first name was even in my brain. Not much help on Wikipedia.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

                              Ha that's very funny.
Sanford... that's right. Was really hopeful that he wasn't going to take the world by storm but it didn't really happen.
Nice to hear the info goswannies posted about Jamie Lawson. I didn't realise he became a runner. You would have thought I would've noticed. Such an exciting player to watch in his brief stint.

Nice little article here on Sanford:

Ex-Aussie football star Sanford Wheeler tackles life

Seems he's doing well in the corporate world too!
