This is what Dane could be doing in the off-season. This guy is the best defensive player in his sport.

J.J. Watt bought a cabin in 'middle of nowhere' to train - NFL.com

Instead Dane focuses on Women, Booze and Smokes.

I've read other articles about JJ Watt. He never goes out to bars and says that he can drink beer with his buddies once he retires.

What a professional. Always doing what he can to be the best.

    There are lessons here.

We will miss out if he never plays again. He has/had the potential (there is that word again) to become very good.

Yeah, don't hang out with JJ Watt.

I guess the greatest spin bowler in history would like Dane.

Unfortunately, while persistent postoperative infections aren't necessarily common, they aren't uncommon either. With the increased prevalence of "super bugs" (those bacteria & viruses that become resistant to all but the strongest of antibiotics) coupled with the graft materials used for the recons (synthetic LARS material, fixation screw etc) that the body only recognises as foreign, plus that the surgery is intraarticular (ie deep & within a joint ... infections are more difficult to identify & combat), patients are not infrequently readmitted with postop infections. One of the many risks of surgery.

I think he wont play again. At least he got to play in a GF and win it. So really if he doesnt play again its not like he missed out.
Come on. He was an outstanding player. He only played about 4 games in the reserves before he was promoted, and never played at a standard that even resembled getting dropped. He gave us outstanding run from the backline, knew where to run to receive, is a great reader of the ball coming into the backline and is courageous. What more do you want. As far as maybe having a poor year in 2013, well that is simply mindreading. Anyone can have a poor season. May I suggest you took a few nanna naps at the footy in 2012.

There are three advantages to keeping AJ on the senior list.

              1) He may recover and be a good long term player.

              2) In his predicament he could only command a minimal salary. There is limited impact on the salary cap of keeping him on.

              3) There is room for a high performing rookie whether it's Naismith, Perris or a another rookie to be promoted and selected in the Seniors in the early part of the season.

Is Perris back in full training after the LARS?

J J Watt knows where to go for a bacteria free post surgery environment. He could give AJ a few lessons. What a professional. Always doing what he can to be the best.

                  Brilliant.

I guess we have a new phrase:

"What a professional. Always doing what he can to be the best".

What Swans players are living up to the above phrase? Certainly not Rampe.

JJ Watt is on a 6 year, $100 million dollar contract. All he desires is a place that's simple, secluded and allows him to put everything into his offseason program.

He does not date women because he wants no distractions to his 100% Football Focus.

Rampe has fought so hard to play AFL Football. Now he needs to channel JJ Watt's regime and become an All-Australian.

Pretty sure Rampe is in a cleaner and safer environment than JJ Watt is, at least WADA would think so

Who the hell is JJ Watt? Any relation to Ricky Watt who played for Collingwood?

Nope, but likely a 3rd cousin of "Watt the hell does an NFL player have to do with the Sydney Swans?!"

I was referring to his professional pre-season approach. This is the pre-season thread!

I was talking about Rampe's professional standards during the pre-season and how he could follow the professional standards of a superstar in another sport.

It's all relevant to the pre- season thread.

If you want to start talking about derailing, I'll have to check the train tracks.

Apart from the smoking photo (& as far as I know there are no Swans or AFL rules prohibiting it - though I personally don't think its a great image) who's to say Dane doesn't have a professional approach to pre-season?
He's a young guy & most young guys want to have some sort of a social life. Is pre-season not a good time to be a bit more social?
While JJ might be admirable in his shack renting and social abstinence, I personally think it's unrealistic to expect that of Dane (or anyone else).

Meh we found a ready made replacement in Rampe.

I have every game from 2012 and have watched them all a few times.
