personally speaking --the first half of the 2003 QF against Port Adelaide was about the best I have every seen from any footballer.

Goodes has played too many great games for me to pick his best, but the game that sticks in my memory the most was against Melbourne many years back, probably 2000. Goodes' stats were ordinary, but his impact on the game was immense. The Demons outplayed us for most of the game, but we just kept clawing them back. Goodes played second ruck to Stafford, but spent most of the second half following the ball, rucking and roving. Every time Melbourne broke away, he seemed to force the Swans back into the game through sheer desperation. In the end, Robertson kicked a couple of late goals, and the Demons got home.

I'll never forget the sight of Goodes half way through the last quarter, on all fours on the MCG boundary line, puking his guts up with exhaustion. Then he just got up, and ran off to the next contest. We'd all had a good look at his freakish skills and flamboyance by then, but that was the first time I realised just how tough and determined he was.

It might not have been his best ever game, but I believe that the 2012 grand final was his most significant game. Redemption for 2006 and helping the team achieve greatness, while on one knee. Remarkable. As Bruce said, cometh the moment, cometh the champion.

I loved that controlled agression he showed in that contest!! He was like a wrecking ball.

His ability that day to give when it looked like he could give no more was quite incredible. That goal in the last quarter was vintage Goodes - who at his best so often seemed a step or two ahead of everyone else on the field with his ability to read the play.
