I don't think the CBA expires for another couple of years, but it has a mid-agreement review built into it. I believe that is what's up for discussion this year.

Fine. So strip the area out of their zone going forward if its not deemed to need it. (I'm not completely convinced that it isn't - it may not need it as badly as other parts of NSW but the number of draftees to emerge from the region over the past decade isn't that impressive. People can't keep referring back to Carey and Kelly.)
But the idea of changing the rules retrospectively irks me no end. Draft access to these players is intended to be an incentive to the clubs to invest time, know how (and money). It's not really fair to induce someone to invest and then tell them they're not entitled to the rewards afterwards.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

"?This weekend there will not be one academy player playing in the competition,? Pridham said. ?It is significantly premature to change the rules, and anything that harms the incentive for the four northern clubs to invest in the development of the game is deleterious to the interests of building the AFL as the national game and not just the @national competition."

"Clubs were broadly supportive of changes to the father-son and academy bidding system, details of which will be announced in coming weeks."
"Despite reports of a two-day draft extravaganza, it is more likely a father-son and academy bidding meeting will take place in the hours before the national draft."

I think the chances are pretty high, it's just a matter of what we will have to give up to get them bothTwitter @cmdil

Well there goes the academy. To invest Millions, when you just get a 20% discount on an unfathomable system is a really poor ROI.
Better to put money into other things. Club should dramatically scale back spending, leave promotion to the AFLYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Josh DUNKLEY has some hard questions before the draft. Whilst Dunk, Andrew, was one the best readers of the ball in the air, I think he must have a problem with Swans or Roos. There are 7 other interstate teams that might draft Josh and Dunks wish for playing near home is gone. Brisbane and Gold coast might finish near the bottom and need a big bodied midfielder and at least you know that the Swans will look after him. If there was no issue Josh would have declared he was going to the Swans but, like the last year of a contract, I am just looking at my options. The Swans is one the best organised, disciplined, supportive and coaches development and still can't get Josh to commit or maybe go to one of the a Victorian clubs with poor records for all categories. The Victorian journalists will be pushing up the order for Callum and Josh even if both don't play U18 champs just trying to screw Sydney with Eddies and Puppets fingers on everything. The only club to get a big penalty for following the rules is Sydney. Would get less for peptides or $1 million over the cap!!!!!!!Comment

I think that worrying about the size of the discount is a peripheral issue. The most important thing is that the academy gives us FIRST DIBS on a gun player. It appears that Mills is a gun and is worth even paying the full amount so the 20% is a bonus. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Eddie is a tool. The fact he has thousands of other tools listening to his to his pig headed rants really @@@@s me. I went and watched mills, heeny etc when they played oakleigh. Mills was a class above, reminds me of pendelbury, just has time and spacial awerness. We need him, we would like dunkly, I loved his old man. But the back line needs looking at, I can't understand why we have the restrictions we have but our focus needs to be on a diamond, somewhere. A key back.
I'm still thinking but I don't know why...jack watts...get him out of Melbourne. Can't be worth much on form.
Tate Pears from the Essendon, again, not making it but still young and big.
Courtly Hampton isn't getting a game and looked smooth last week against our twos. could be that half back we need.
I think Newman will make it, all class. Also my mate rates Melican played with and against. Hard as nails.
Let's just put one together tommorow night and show we are up there. Four qtrs boysLast edited by Simo; 15 May 2015, 09:24 PM.Comment
