I thought is was pretty obvious with the song, considering they are holding up scarves with both the Power and Magpies logo..

      Funny!!!!
I was at the bar at the back of the hill at the time, and said to the barman (a swans supporter) that it would have been more meaningful if Michael Hutchence were here to sing it.
I suppose Kochie's influence doesn't extend to raising the dead!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Mel, you would really be singing along at the end of a match in which Port Adelaide were the winners in the SANFL competition. Their team song is "Cheer, cheer the Black and the White" played to the Notre Dame Victory March.

Oops sorry, just thought I was posting a link to the song above, didn't mean to defile our Swans site with a big magpie. Anyway you might be interested in listening to the first few bars!

I grew up as an Aussies Rule fan in Adelaide (my team was Norwood) but had been living in Canberra for some years before the AFL was created and then firstly the Crows and subsequently Port entered the AFL. Initially I naively assumed that as a South Australian, you would support the other SA club as your second team (against the enemy Vics). I was taken aback on my trips back to visit family to find in fact the supporters hate each other!
I can't imagine we will ever develop THAT much animosity against GWS.

Maybe the Swans could have a unifying theme at the SCG.

With our Academy under attack, I would go with Warrick Capper's "I Only Take What's Mine".

Imagine Warrick holding up the banner "I Only Take What's Mine". You would struggle to get him off the ground.

When the theme is playing have highlights on the big screen of Heeney, Mills and Dunkley playing.
Worst Matt80 idea yet, surely not serious ?

As for a song how could we go past Mission of Burma's "Academy Fight Song" as the ultimate FU to Eddie and his pals down south.

I don't know about Warwick, but I like the big screen highlights! Perhaps with "Nobody Does It Better".
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

All jokes aside, is there anything that the SCG could do in terms of pre-game entertainment to heighten the matchday experience?
Obviously a NEAFL curtain raiser would be ideal but that's not always possible. Would it be a club-based decision and/or an SCG trust decision?
In a traditionally non-AFL market, anything to enhance the match-day experience and potentially attract new groups of supporters/members couldn't be a bad thing

Myself and Sam Reid have suggested looking at American sports for some pre-game entertainment ideas. In an article on Sam Reid, he states that he had some match day entertainment ideas for the Swans marketing department after he attended some Sports games on a trip to the USA.

I can't enter this discussion otherwise I will be smashed by peddling Corporate America.

I like that fact that David Koch as a veteran of the entertainment industry
is using his expertise to improve the Ports supporters match day experience.

Nothing like some Bulgarian Folk dancing to get the Red and White crowd stirred up.

I was there... a few roman candles and the non-important members of an 80s band does not make for "exciting" match day entertainment.
Maybe the Port supporters are just easily entertained.

Round 2 Port Adelaide v Swans

The only thing that enhances my match day experience is watching football. Unless you have Jessica Alba doing a nudie run across the SCG I'm really not going to be interested in prematch entertainment.

If you come up with something that puts more bums on seats then go got it. A winning footy team at family friendly time slots are the best things for crowd numbers.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
