Guys. I find Matt80 slightly irritating too, more annoyingly hyper-active than someone you want to bitchslap into oblivion, but . . .
He is correct in his analysis of who Horse will and won't play as a mix.
I personally disagree with Horse (see my earlier post re Laidler) but thems the facts.
By the way, Matt80, if you use this post to brag, I'll switch to the bitchslapping camp.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

You make these statements like you know straight from Horse that he doesn't play those 4 together. Did he tell you this?
How many chances should BJ be given before someone else gets a shot? Someone like Robinson. He was on par with Lloyd when playing in reserves together. He deserves a crack before BJ.
I said definitively that Mitchell would not be selected, because you can read the system.
I have met Mitchell and he is a terrific guy. I want him to succeed.
I don't know why I'm ridiculed on Red and White for defining a system that is happening before our eyes and is clear to see? How many more times does this system have to happen for people to accept it's happening?
I will issue an apology if I'm debunked.

I don't think you're ridiculed for defining a system. It's not always for what you say (which can be intriguing), more how you say it and how often you repeatly say it (I suspect).Comment

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Matt's being saying it repetitively for a year and been harangued and I've been saying it for 5-10 years and been completely ignored. I guess it's all in the delivery (and I wouldn't trade FWIW). Either way, both Roos first and now Longmire have consistently gone with a structure that involves a certain number of players who play in a certain style or position. When we make changes, it's generally like for like. Once the balance is right, the only changes you'll see will be those that don't affect structure. Cunningham is odds on to be sub this week, unless rain changes Longmire's thinking, which is unlikely.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

If he can chase down Matt80, then I'll be convinced.
And Matt, if you're there, and I know you are, so don't hide: I did give you the acknowledgement that you were right about 3 max extractors policy, post 157.
I know Horse has a thing for speed and with good cause. Better to be fast than slow in this game. He certainly looks at the matchups for the week and sees if he's got the right personnel to match it with them. He mentioned injuries, or the lack thereof, so many times, I feel that he's been taken by surprise by the amount of depth he has in the team and how difficult it is the spread the opportunities among so many players just sitting outside a large group of core players that take up almost all the spots. Now we even have Goodes in this fringe group. Harry Marsh made the list of bests in the reserves. Next thing you know, even Tom Derickx will start pushing for selection, and Hawthorn will lose to Essendon by giving up 2 goals with only 1:40 on the clock. The whole world's gone mad.Comment

for me it is about weekly matchups vs the style we want to play vs who we have available"be tough, only when it gets tough"

At the end of this season we are still going to have Kennedy, Bird, Hanners and Parks aboard - well, it seems likely. If Mitchell cannot get a game or two this year he has to move on for his own sake.
Thinking back to the time he was drafted he came with a Heeney-like reputation but his run of injuries over the past 2 years has put him behind Parks in the pecking order. When you consider the time given to players like Reid, Jets and even Rohan to develop it seems a bit strange that now Tom is fit he cannot get a game. Lack of speed, lack of versatility? Probably just in the wrong team at the wrong time - a bit like Joey Kennedy was. The only thing is that Tom had star potential when he came to the Swans.Comment

He needs to play with a lot more intensity and hardness, than what he's shown so far this year, or he won't hold his spot.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Everyone just needs to relax RE Mitchell...he will get his chance at some stage this year. If he was disgruntled he would have requested a trade last year but he has obviously decided to stay to try and prove that he is good enough to crack this side.
I'm confident that if he does get in and play consistently well that he will make himself impossible to drop, regardless of the number of non-electric, extracting units we have available.Twitter @cmdil

He's only had one AFL game this year and was in our top 10 over the season last year. I think he's in the team on more than luck. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment
