We shouldn't undersell how valuable the experience is for all our kids in the reserves to play alongside arguably the club's greatest ever player. Let's hope they can all learn a thing or two from the great man

He was never ever going play on Subiaco. I still think his best chances are to play on the SCG and similar smaller grounds but it's going to be very hard to manage if everyone if fit and available.

Yeh he's simply not in our best 23-24 at the moment, it's a good problem.

Agree with others, Lloyd is fast becoming one of the teams best distributers, and best decision makers.

He's also a good scrapper in the tight stuff.

His only weakness is the lack of penetration in his kicks...

But he's an automatic selection at present.

With a Darth of players who play like him, Jake Lloyd was always going to Force his way into the side. The lack of penetration of his kicking is anakin to many young footballers & should improve. Doesn't look like there is a Dark Side to Jake Lloyd's game.

Last year I tried to print that pic on a T shirt transfer but transfer got stuck in printer. Had to dismantle printer. Not game to try again. Was I going to break copy right laws?

Lloyd has been hitting targets around 30-40 mts with hard flat kicks, which I think is pretty good if you can do it with the consistency that he does. IIRC, he's kicked a couple of goals from about 50 out. Although he doesn't have the penetration of a Rampe, I think it says that he's a pretty good kick of the ball. I'd much rather he kick 30 out and hit a target than 60 to a contest.

One interesting kick on the weekend that hasn't got a comment, I think, was McGlynn's left footer to Buddy on the run that led a Buddy kicking a goal. I can't remember Benny making such an accurate pass on his right. I thought it was Sam Mitchell for moment, because he had enough time to switch to his right, but just kicked it on the left like he'd been doing it all his life.

After viewing the game replay, I'm okay with Sam Reid again. I don't think he played that badly and should remain in our starting back 6. He has a few things to learn about playing in defence. There was a bit of pressure on the defence with the absence of both Mal and Smithy. Shaw was running the ball out like he did in his younger days, out of necessity, because 2 of our better kicks from last year were not around to help out. It will be good to have Smith back again. He is quite a dependable kick and we missed him. The alternative seems to have Macca and Lloyd drop back and help getting the rebound out of our end of the ground.

It would seem a bit cruel to drop Laidler, as he's played well so far, but he keeps coming up #22 when I look at the side and I don't see him as a sub. Laidler also has the fewest playing minutes of our defenders, which might indicate a bit less fitness than the others and he may struggle on the big ground in Perth. I would bring Robinson in as sub for this game.

I think you'll find that Jake is perfectly capable of long kicking, he is just more concerned about not wasting his kicks and hitting a player. In his first year in the NAB cup game he lined up quite confidently from well beyond the 50 for a shot at goal.

The only thing that could improve that picture, & hopefully it never ever happens, but if ever Jake Lloyd ended up at Chins Maguire's team, the shadow in the background could have alternating light & dark vertical stripes.

If you weren't planning to sell it, hopefully that wouldn't offend too many people

Or a shadow of Jabba the Hutt in the background.

I agree you. His kicking is accurate, and he gets OK distance when he wants to.

But ,as you've also noted, he's not a penetrating kick....It's just an observation.

Other than that he has a fantastic all round game...I'm loving his work.

It's going to be an absolute cracker of a match Saturday night, cannot wait.

I thought Freo may have been on the way out as I have this theory that Ross Lyon burns clubs out - I still think they are at the end of the Premiership window but they will be right up there. Now that Crowley is not playing I find it hard to dislike them, even though I am lukewarm about Lyon
