Being down the bottom of the ladder is going to make it hard for them to retain all of their young guns as well...especially when successful clubs come knocking.

I have never quite understood why Guy McKenna got the sack. He actually had the team looking at a place in the finals last year, admittedly they fell apart a bit after Gary Ablett's injury put him out of the team. Rodney Eades' time at the Swans, particularly his rumoured treatment of Goodesy, put me off him for ever. The dangers of changing clubs - how was Mal to know that Rodney would end up being coach at his new club.
Hopefully things work out for the best. The plan for him was probably to be the Heath Shaw of GCS. He may well be so yet - did it take time for Heath to settle in at GWS? Mal just needs to hold on to the form of his last couple of years for the next couple - Rhyce and Ted have managed to!

I suspect Ablett's form was papering over the cracks of an incomplete list. They're missing O'Meara far more than they realised they would too. GWS have done a far better job adding experienced players in key spots to their list IMO and they've also been prepared to trade high picks for depth.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

What's there to rebuild from the bottom of the ladder? That's like the first little pig rebuilding his house of straw.Comment
