I struggled with it today and it's probably the first time I really have, which leaves me to think it was particularly bad as it's normally a pain for a lot of people and doesn't usually phase me.

I get they're footy commentators and not journalists, but a smidgen of impartiality wouldn't go astray. They were openly barracking for the Bulldogs in the final quarter which for a Swans fan was simply annoying- so bad, in fact, that even with the pressure and stress of how close it was I almost became disinterested and realised I was more focused on my multi-tasking item of sketching out a garage plan than I was on the game and it was because of the commentary.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The holding of the man before he had the ball really got me. Bulldogs seem to do it all day. different rules this week compared to previous week. about 3 minutes to go and Hannebery was about 2 meters away from the ball and was dragged down, yep just play on. The guy diving on the ball and not getting the ball out did not exist this week!! unlike what happened to Shaw and Rampe Last week in front of goals!!

I wonder how useful Heeney might've been today instead of, say, Towers?

              Or McGlynn?

... or even Ricky Mott or Paul Chambers?!

Sorry those last two were an ill-tempered joke. Benny would have been useful tho

Michell, Kennedy, Parker, Bird. 95 disposals & 23 tackles between them. Swans lose. I'm not sure where they stand as a successful (or not) mid-field combination?

Can someone explain to me what role Towers is there to play? I have no idea. If it is defensive forward, he doesn't do it. If it's a high running half forward, he doesn't do it. I'm honestly lost on him and don't see what he could become.

Rampe has looked panicky the last 2 weeks. He was a champion before that.

Towers is not AFL standard. I've said it since last year and I'll continue to say it. No hardness or composure.

Exactly what I was thinking during much of the game, GS.

Shaw, Grundy, Laidler and Rampe are just too many fumblers to have in one defence. If 3 of them are involved in a play, it's nearly a sure turnover.

I think we need to sacrifice a bit in the midfield to try to improve our movement out of defence. As previously suggested, Macca is one obvious choice. Even though Jetta makes mistakes as well, he does have the skill and speed to get the ball going. I think we have to drop Shaw and move Rampe into the midfield. If it's wet, maybe we have to leave Grundy out of the lineup.

Sorry Goodsey, but a good cameo is just not enough to hold your spot. And I too am off the Towers bandwagon for the moment. Hopefully he can find some more grunt in the reserves. Bring back Heeney and give Jones and Robinson a shot at senior footy as well.

We are not good enough to do nothing. We have to find something that will move this team forward.

Paul Chambers?? Now there's a somewhat unwelcome blast from the past. But now that you've got me reminiscing, me and some of my more AFL obsessed friends used to call him Binary, because his stats sheet was invariably a collection of 0s and 1s.
