To the Hawthorn fans who booed Adam Goodes, you are a disgrace! I don't give a damn what the reason for the booing is, in light of Goodes' profile in recent times, as Australian of the Year and being subject to several infamous racist incidents, the implication of such a form of communication is that it represents a racist slur.
When at the ground I complained about the booing the Hawthorn fans behind me simply mocked me with laughter.
Funny how after following this football code for two decades I have developed a deep dislike for the Hawthorn Football Club.Comment

Don't care that we might have had a bit of luck, we beat Hawthorn at the MCG and that's enormous!
Let's not forget we smashed them in the first quarter, we outscored them in the last quarter, came from 2 goals down late in the game to knock 'em off and had no help from the umpires.
A significant and vital win for us and the fact that Hawthorn might think they were unlucky, for me, only serves to heighten the enjoyment of the win.

But a very, very, very good footballer. His ability to follow the play, be in right position most of the time, courage, to always seem to have time to dispose of the footy and disposal efficiency makes him an outstanding player. He is 33 and still just as good. I suspect he is annoying to Swans supporters because he is so good. He plays tough uncompromising footy. Without him last night we win comfortably. I wish our midfielders were somewhere adept as him at centre clearances. It was he who slaughtered us in the 2nd quarter of the 2014 GF, out of the centre. When he and Hodge retire watch Hawthorn slide. Can't wait.Comment

Great effort can't fault it but still think we were lucky to get away with it especially at the end. Not only with the Rioli fumble but the Breust and Gunston misses, two guys who are renowned for their accuracy. In the last quarter We had 6 inside 50s for 3.0 while they had 14 entries for 1.4
Still I'll take it
Just on the umpiring. What they missed was the chopping of the arms. We dropped a lot of sitters for that reason.Comment

Just finished watching the replay after getting home from the game. Pretty lucky to win really. But a great night to be at the G. Really impressed with the number of Swans fans there tonight. Biggest turnout for many a year at a H&A game. Grundy worries me (plus the rest of the defence for that matter). And, don't write off the Hawks yet. A lot of their disposal efficiency made us look like Ammos' divvy two at times. Reid and Jetts look like they're back and Hanners must be signed for long term.

I think that generally it's just gamesmanship, but some of it does border on being a bit of a bad sport. Minor example from last night- he took the ball over the boundary just in front of Parker for a throw-in, as the two of them trotted back in to play he held the ball out to give it to Parker, who looked a little puzzled, then after a couple of seconds he reached for it and Mitchell instantly tossed it back to the boundary umpire then trotted off with his head high. There was no reason to do it, and it seemed very schoolboy behaviour. I think that's the sort of thing people are annoyed by, not by his amazing clearance ability of his sublime skills by either foot.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Did I miss a rule change this year? Several times players appeared to dive into the legs of others, causing them to fall on their back, thereby getting "in the back". I thought you weren't allowed to dive below the knees of another player?
Or maybe it just looked that way from the top of the Ponsford Stand.Comment

I missed the game last night, but I watched both Seven's Game Day and Nine's Sunday Footy Show segments on the match. Did the Swans even play last night? Both programs talked only of how Hawthorn were wasteful and how they should have won based on statistics. Brad Sewell being the worst offender by far. Absolutely disgusting post-game summaries, embarrassing. I thought that AFL is Australia's game, not just Victoria's? What year is it?Comment

Don't know how they will go without Hodge & Mitchell it will be interesting to find out. There will be several players leaving in the same period I should think. Hodge, Mitchell, Hale, Burgoyne (the game changer), Gibson & Lake. They are all around the same age. I think if you take Gibson out of their defence they are shaky. Mitchell, Hodge & Burgoyne will leave a huge hole. Very big shoes to fill. Lake has been probably the best FB in the AFL over the years but they have brought in Frawley to cover that. but I don't think Frawley plays well on the monsters. Hale is replaceable but a good forward/ruckman never the less. But Burgoyne is the big one for me. He literally changes games off his own boot. He is the most important player in the Hawks line up. When they are struggling the throw Burgoyne into the middle and he always delivers. His delivery is elite and he has the capacity to not only change a game but inflict huge pain in just a few minutes. His appearance in the centre square allowed Sam Mitchell to get dominance last night. He was the conduit. His last quarter heroics nearly won the game for them. Stop Mitchell, Burgoyne & Hodge & you stop Hawks, simple really LOL!Comment
