Correct me if I`m wrong Meg. But the Aboriginal people were never War people like the New Zealand Maoris. (Who once were Warriors). The Australian Aboriginals were hunter gatherers.I believe this new war dance has just been picked up as a convenient tool to promote something that really isn't there.

The reaction of that woeful panel...McGuire, Hall, Brereton, McClure...was of a group of dills who felt threatened.
They fed off each other, in their studio bubble, and got all righteous about something they clearly didn't understand.
Dear me, how sad and pathetic their collective response was.
It was simply a well intentioned celebration for the indigenous round...Nothing sinister, just a celebration of a proud man.
It's great to see Goodsey's spirit has not been diminished by the booing nonsense.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

McGuire's instant over reaction to everything Swans related is always obvious.
The 'killing people 'crap from Brereton was awesome for its stupidity. Of course, Dermot is delighted with anything that spills from his mouth sees himself as the Mr. Knowledgeable of all things football, in fact, of all things'
McGuire's denial next day that he called Goodes' actions aggressive is more proof that his self promoting nonsense should be ignored. (The tape proved he lied)
Barry Hall blindly following the lead of his panel chairman was sad..for a man who stood up for himself so constantly on the field, he is proving to be a submissive pussycat around McGuire.
And, finally, McGuire's acknowledgement that he was involved (inadvertently, he claimed) in Goodes' racial abuse incident with the Collingwood suppoerter last year, doesn't hold water. He compared the man to King Kong...there's nothing 'inadvertent' about that.
The whole discussion was an embarrassment to the men involved and to Fox Footy.Comment

How Eddie can claim any credibility at all, when he blatantly lied yesterday about calling Goodesy's dance aggressive, I have no idea. He's such a weaselComment

Waleed Aly summed it up perfectly - in the way that a few others have summarised it on here. I really like what he generally has to say Waleed, as he never shys away from being controversial if need be."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

A more sensible assessment on Melbourne radio this morning from the announcers. Nathan Thompson and Wayne Britain spoke quite passionately in defence of Goodes. So did Rohan Connolly. Yesterday, Hutchy, Pickers and Dr Turf were also fully in support of Goodes. (Brererton and King's views later in the day were still deplorable though and very old school.) The more the commentators speak out in defence of Goodes the less we will start to hear from all of the haters online and on talkback. (BTW I think Rita Panahi has become the Andrew Bolt of football issues and her criticism of Goodes and ignorance on the issues has opened the door for a lot of cruel comments online.)Comment

Glad to hear that common sense is starting to prevail but can't believe it took this long. When I saw his celebration on Friday night I thought it was fitting for opening game of Indigenous round, and I could not believe the reaction I heard and read once I got home. Goodesy's not a favourite of mine on the field - I thinks he whinges and carries on a bit too much - but I think he's an absolute legend for the work he does off the field, and for being brave enough to call people out and challenge people's views in the way he does.Comment

Huh? People "hate" Abbott because he's a particular "type" of Catholic?????????? Before I read this post, I had no knowledge of Abbott's religious practices or beliefs. I care nothing for them. I dislike Abbott (hate is too strong a word) for his politics and his smugness.
Exactly what "type" of Aboriginal is Goodes that is relevance to others' views towards him? It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.
