      Centre clearances - WTF?

Would we have got to the GF and if so would we have done better with Mumford in the team but without Buddy? Because that was the choice facing the club at the end of the .2013 season.
We would all love to still have Mummy. I suspect the club let him go with strong regret. But it was part of the price for the recruitment of Buddy. Buddy won several matches for us off his own boot last year. Mumford is a very good ruckman but I doubt he would singlehandedly win a match for us if we did not have Buddy.

As usual, the voice of reason!

Mumford wasn't always good. He struggled with the load of lead/solo ruckman when Pyke was injured. I really think Pyke has some limiting injury but is instructed to provide as much of a contest as he can. Hence the frees against recently. I'm sure if the coaches thought a reserve was up to that minimum Pyke would get a rest. The bye may help.

I thought the sticking point with Mummy was the length of the contract not the money. Personally I'd rather not make the GF than sit through another performance like last year but that's probably just me.

Mummy almost cost us the 2012 flag. Had to be subbed off.

Mummy's ankle was buggered before the game and he tried as hard as he could. We no backstop ruckman so Mummy had to play.

Just watching the replay and concentrating on the centre clearances in particular, Pyke doesn't jump at many of them and the ones he does jump at it is halfhearted and more concerned with when Goldstein is jumping. Whether this was injury related (maybe this was why Nankervis went as a traveling emergency?) or a tactic I'm not sure but Goldstein was smart enough to recognise it and adjust his tapwork accordingly. Also cost us a few free kicks in the middle when Pyke was pinged for blocking.

Seems feels like we did better with birdy in the team!
                      My view is its JPK.
He has been an absolute gun inside the last few years. He was the one that got the first touch and the others did the rest.

This year he is not playing with that same unrelenting attitude. So we don't get first touch - and we are not getting the clearances.

Unduly harsh! He has been selected for 100 senior games for a reason. And he does what he's told. Albeit his recent form has been questionable.

Blicavs is not a football player either. He was a wannabe Olympian in the steeplechase who belatedly converted to AFL after failing to make the cut for the London Olympics. That said, he has been a great success, is improving all the time and has been exciting to watch this year.

I may have typed too soon: see this article No Cookies | Herald Sun which shows he played footy as a kid before leaving it from ages 14-21 (or so).

Haven't been getting clearances for years. Kennedy might have dropped off a bit on clearances but nothing has changed at centre bounces. We are shizen houzen.

What's that famous old saying by the famous comedian Milton Berle :

"Pick you spots baby, pick your spots"

The swans coaching group and playing group know where to defend, where to counter attack, where to attack better then most teams in the comp.........

If they had Sandilands in the middle we may play a slightly different style of attack but I know we wouldn't just blaze it in to buddy being marked 2-1 as it doesn't work hence watch us tear us apart other teams winning clreances but not kicking to advantage !!!

We play pagans paddock and we counter out off our HB line to create space for one on ones up front to seriously high quality forwards such as buddy......We absorb @@@@e kicks from clreances from the opposition and we counter attack and that works most weeks hence our table achievement more often then not.

The memory of not winning clreances has hurt against freeo and the Hawks.........that is the real test and the unknown for the future

If we had sando my gut feeling is that we would win a GF hands down

                                Without let's enjoy the theatre
