I thought the coaching left a lot to be desired particularly in the last quarter.Buddy was clearly upset by his report and was being done like a dinner by Rance. He kept leading Rance to the ball and Rance then cleared the ball.He should have been told to play decoy and lead Rance away with Tippett or Derrikx
dropping back to be the target.Either that or bench him would have got us across the line I feel. We still had enough of the ball to win but had no forward structure and kept playing to a losing plan. Jones? Welcome to the bigtime!

If you had watched the Tiggers lately, you knew they would have a good chance against us . They move the ball well and take excellent overhead marks and are dead eyes in front of goal .
I really enjoy watching them , but not against us so much .
It was dissapointing The Swans didn't rebound but The Tiggers had the hunger and the momentum .
Tippett seems to have trouble timing his centre bounces , I found that really frustrating to watch .
Wouldn't have taken Mictchell off , Goodsey was all butter fingers , would have given him the vest .
McVeigh can't inspire the whole team every week . He's fine .

        For me

My only comment is that the great teams set the tempo. The great teams know when the opposition are up and about. The great teams know how to cool down the opposition by maintaining possession and starving a hungry aspiring team.

Simply : we did not do that last night and I feel the midfields of the top 8 teams need a little more respect as there isn't a lot between them except superior ruckman ......there fore we need to adapt and slow the game down with some chip and catch footy when need be to starve the opposition of their momentum so we can wrestle back control via setting the tempo

We tend to do this in our backline defensive arc but the Tigers were equal to the challenge and we failed to counter in our strategy

Shaw seems to play as if he is still 25 but in a 30+ yr old body, has the right idea but execution is poor. No doubt he tries hard and I dont mind players making mistakes, but i would hate to think how many of his errors this year have directly turned into goals for the opposition.
I too would like to see Zac replace Shaw, even if Shaw was sub.

[QUOTE=mcs;674972]Derricx is just not up to it - if pyke is still out next week id bring nankervis in and let tippett lead in the ruck -he is just awful in the ruck contests at afl level.

Quite so - he's 27 and has not even played 20 games.

The centre bounce work of both tippo and derricx wasnt helped by some of the worst centre bounces by umps you'll ever see. In the 3rd q i guess about 2 or 3 of the bounces stayed in the circle - several were slewed significantly. Several should have been called back but the umps let them go as borderline. Time for the afl to get rid of centre bounces in my book and just throw it up.

Given that we were the home team i can't believe how many times our players slipped over - we cannnot handle it when teams match or better our pressure and when we drop off our pressure we are a very ordinary team - lets hope it was an after bye slip up - but embarrassing performance from a side that prides itself on its professionalism - Tigers were there to be smashed and we kept them in it.

When Jones had his little rant I assumed he must have been pointing at a teammate and yelling instructions at them. That really was a terrible 50 to give away, but I guess, unlike half his teammates in the fourth, at least it looked like he cared.

Do we do something different to other clubs during the bye? We always, to my mind at least, seem out of legs the following week. Do we hold a pub crawl or something?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Kizza played well but do others feel he is carrying some kind of leg injury ? He doesn't seem to have his old zip.

The overall performance of the coaches and some of our so called leaders needs to be questioned. Clearly we were not prepared to be roughed up. It was like an aftershock from the Grand Final earthquake.

Goodsey played like a surly teenager except without the teenager's body.

Buddy total bundle drop. Not managed at all by Longmire.

Taking Mitchell off just before Rohan's usual cramping episode is just dumb.

Lack of blooding of young players now coming back to bite us. Nine senior players now likely to be unavailable. People calling for the dropping of Derickx should realise that no Tippett will mean that we need the only 2 available ruckmen in the side. Nankervis will come in AS WELL as Derickx.

Who will replace Buddy? Aliir? Xav? Towers?Marsh? That's about the choice unless you look at another midfielder such as Hewitt .

I'm afraid the Bloods Spirit is looking rather anaemic.

Goodes got pounced on early in the 1st Q after a free. He seemed unusually upset and angry after that.
