I said to Dr J last night in the last quarter that the Shaw move forward may be the signal he is gone. With us undermanned and a lead that needed to be protected, I thought it telling that Longmire went with Jones back and keep Shaw as far from goal as possible.

I thought Rampe and Grundy were sensational down back with Hanners and Joey at the top of their game also.

I thought Jets stunk it up bigtime, fumbly and just terribly out of sorts but it was telling that his effort and endeavour to get involved didn't waiver. In years gone by he would have faded right out of the game when he was having 'one of those nights'.

I have mellowed substantially over the past 20-25 years watching the games, but I was at my outraged best when Broadbent went the dog act on Parks. I am still almost hoarse from my outrage. Geez that pissed me off.

I couldn't help but think that 'Nico' would have been going spare in front of the TV at home at some of Harry's non efforts. I've always been of the opinion that Harry offers us something doing what he does and his lack of an in and under game can be carried, but last nights game was just one of those games you had to take one for the team and on too many occasions he failed to get in the line of fire, imo.

And finally, it was bloody cold.....
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

2012 Grand Final would be a fair start. No Pyke soccer off the ground to Jetta then no goal to Mal to win the game.

Noone commenting on the possibility that we may lose the points for last night if the rest of the round doesn't go ahead?

Reckon Reg has been our best at the back the last three games.

Unless it is a clearly critical piece of play (i.e. a match winning goal), I don't feel this sort of comment really proves much. You could come up with 20 different similar scenarios across different players in almost any game. You can't suddenly rewrite one part of a game without it inherently impacting on the rest of the game - unless it is as I said pretty much a match winning play.

Surely it'll only be the Cats/Crows game that gets postponed, they'd be insane to postpone/abandon the rest of the round. I doubt it is what Walsh would have wanted anyway. The rest of the round should be both a sombre memorial to Walsh, but also a great celebration of all he contributed to the game we all love.

When Teddy got knocked out and the players were all in a huddle waiting for play to resume he was wandering around outside the group by himself, didn't even address them.
It was interesting that situation - from what I saw on the telly, seemed to be Parker taking a real lead on addressing the players during that break. Whatever was said it worked well.

Jones is just a bit of a hot head - he will learn. What we saw last night in patches though is that he can be more than decent user of the ball - something which will only improve in time, and I hope he gets an extended run in the team to show his wares. I like the way he goes about it, and I like he has some mongrel and a bit of argy bargy in him.

Rampe and Grundy were superb after Teddy went off - not that either weren't playing well before, but they both lifted significantly. I really do like Rampe as a player - apart from the brain farts. His desperation in that last term was critical to us hanging on. It was no surprise to me when I looked at the stats to see he had twice as many 1%ers last night as any other Swans - most came in the last quarter I think.

I thought Rampe was very good against Schulz but this morning I began thinking whether the likely suspension was hanging over Schulz just like the commentators were saying about Buddy last week.

Only the Crows-Cats game cancelled (2 puts each). Sensible decision and brings the football community together to mourn with a minutes silence before the game.

Yes, that seems the most sensible course of action.

To be fair Jay has been ordinary all season...I think last night's game was just a fair reflection of his year to date.

I'm not sure it's been mentioned yet but I was really impressed with Goodes' forward pressure last night, he chased and harassed as much as he has in years and laid some really important tackles, finished with 6 for the game which would have to be close to, if not a season high.

Anyone else notice how Gaunt Sam Reid looked? More so than his usual slender look.

That's the most tackles Adam's had since the 2012 GF.

And for all that's been said about how he couldn't kick any more, his goal kicking accuracy and distance seems as good as ever. He's 14-4 this year, which is career best for accuracy. But he doesn't look like missing these days and is kicking them right through the middle.

Maybe we should send Shaw back to reserves for a few weeks and see if that can revive his career as well.

Not sure if my eyes were deceiving me, but I think that Ted has allowed a bit of playing for free kicks to creep into his game these days. Both times last night he received a bump and went flying forward to allow his opponent to take an uncontested mark. I cant help but think that in his All Aust year he would have tried to out-body the forward and stand his ground. I think I have seen it a few times this year and it is a bit of a concern.

Nope. I didn't think it was appropriate to comment on anything like that, and I'm glad no one else did either. I think the right call was made in the end, but this is one of those times where we just accept that whatever decision is made, is made with the very best and most appropriate of intentions.
