Agree Mel C - I'm still hoping that volcano at Tullamarine will mysteriously erupt and all planes from Wednesday till 7.30 pm Saturday night from Melbourne will be grounded and they either can't get here or have to take the bus!!????

Well we can add that to the collection of very unconvincing victories this season for our boys. Geez how putrid do we look at times? I don't care about the final margin but we're just not playing good football, pure and simple.Comment

I don't wear rose coloured glasses. I think most posters would think that i have many issues with the team and the coaching team. We do not look like a top 4 team and dont even close to GF Team. Way too many poor skills and decisions week to week. Hawthorn and Weagles will sort us out and i hate to state that the grubby mcguires might beat us as well. Our best and worst is getting a bigger gap this year.Comment

Not a great performance and certainly wasn't helped by the umpiring.
I'd say the boys might have had 1 eye on the next couple of weeks which is only natural when you've been elite for so long, you'll always look forward to the bigger games.
Still a few positives, thought Reid was good in the backline, Tippett played his best game in quite a while. Kennedy seems to be back to his best, Hannebery still dominant. Lloyd was good as well, reminds me so much of McVeigh.
Obviously no injuries and no reports is key as well, especially considering Sam Mitchell should be missing after his knee on Fyfe.Twitter @cmdil

Kennedy, Hanners and Kizza all stood up. I thought Tippo did well and Rampe and even Goodes were useful. Also the best game I remember from Jones. I saw enough to feel like it would be great to see him replace Shaw in the team as the injured in our best 22 filter back in. Here's hoping it is a baton change as suggested by another poster.
Overall interesting game. I felt like we experimented with some different things. I think credit needs to be given to Brisbane, who played well, and to the fact that we had 6 players with under 50 games (well under in the case of Robbo and Jones) and another couple with no more than 61 games (Laidler, Ramps). I'm not sure how much Buddy's limited involvement had to do with him being a bit 'off' and how much it was a deliberate thing - perhaps to be less 'single channelled' in our route to goal. Felt like there were a lot of midfielders working as defenders and in the forward line leading to some players being less sighted than usual, Buddy being the most obvious. On a less positive note there were a lot of Swans that didn't make much impact - so plenty of room for improvement, which we will need against the Hawks next week! All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Pyke being subbed is interesting. There is a lot to be improved after that game but the ruck situation is interesting. Nanko obviously had his first game last week. Then this week in the reserves he was terrific by all accounts. With tippet spending more time in the ruck maybe it's not far off that we pull the trigger and play nanko and tippet as the ruck combination. They can basically alternate roles forward and in the ruck. It won't happen next week against hawthorn but maybe we need to consider it strongly.
We also need to never pick towers again. BJ or hewett would be much better.Comment

Another filthy knee from Sam Mitchell, into Fyfes knee/ thigh...It was as calculated as you'll see...
Hope he gets sanctioned, he's a dirty player and deserves weeks.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Only got to see the last quarter ... just a win ... at least there seem to be more realists talking tonight ... perhaps the "a win is a win" crowd will come out later & somehow try to turn rubbish into gold ... disposal / handling errors every few second ... was so glad to see Kennedy 33 possessions at 3/4 time ... evidently got another 7 in the last quarter but honestly not one of them was worth a crumpet.Comment

The Swans are suffering from:
OCD: We can't help kicking the ball to the opposition, even though we know it's not really part of the game plan.
Attention Deficit Disorder: We fall asleep for extended periods of the game, especially in 3rd quarters.
Hallucinations: Kick directly to opposition because we imagine that players on the other team are actually playing for our side
Paranoia: Rush disposals because we imagine that we are under pressure from opposition players when we are really in plenty of space.
Depression: Oh, Sorry. This is what the supporters are suffering from.Comment

Pretty underwhelming and I must say I hate the modern game where all the players just blanket the forward 50, not sure what they can do but I have a couple of ideas
* Marks only apply to kicks that travel forward, not back or sideways
* The marking distance increases to 25m
* I'd reduce interchanges to 50 per match with an extended bench of six players. I don't care if the game slows down a bit, I just hate the current hybrid sport AFL has become.
Anyway, not that many positives apart from the points, I await gary's thoughts anxiously.
Tippett's game was one I guess and I think that Zak Jones is developing very nicely into a very promising senior AFL footballer so well done to him and the club there. Rampe also seems to be a lot more solid whilst Shaw had his usual troubles (sigh.....). Continue to really like Laidler and I felt Reid had a reasonably good game as did McVeigh and Jack. Also good to see Kennedy start hitting some form, he was huge in the first quarter
On the negatives, surely Towers isn't quite up to it.
We'll have a much better idea of where we are at in four weeks time
