I'd hoped otherwise, but perhaps there is some substance to the rumours of desire to return to WA:

I love it when Jetta goes for a run.
However I feel he has been asked to do more the team thing unless circumstances allow him a bit of a trot.
As much as he is an excitement machine at times, I think I could deal with him moving on if it helps us with new trade restrictions etc.

Signs are not great to be honest...I like Jets and still feel he a lot to offer. Hope he stays around.

The club should give him the 3 year contract.

I'm sure the club has no problem with giving Jetta a three year contract, it's whether Jetta wants to accept it.

I've just had a gut feeling about this as soon as he wasn't re-signing along with our other required players - think about it, this is his last contract and he has the chance to finish his career back close to his family with a club smack bang in a premiership window and in all likelihood on significantly more cash than what we can offer.

I hate to say it but it seems like a no brainer for the young lad and despite me hoping we can keep him I just hope that he does what is best for him.

Gerard Neesham's interview on Open Mike was very though provoking and he opened the can of worms of the draft that I agree with very much. Unlike the USA, the only other nation that has such a restrictive trade practice, we draft our kids at 17-18 rather than at 21-22 in the States. It's a completely different scenario in terms of personal development - it won't happen but I really liked Neesham's idea of raising the draft age to 21.

We take a a kid like Jetta at 17-18, who as an indigenous kid probably has more issues with replocation away from family than most, we (as in the AFL system) take him completely away from his support network and we place him in a pressure cooker environment that no 18 year old should reasonably be expected to deal with. We then place enormous performance pressures and expect them to live in the public eye and never make a mistake.

My point to this rant is that I don't think Jetta owes us anything, in fact I think he has made great sacrifices for this club and I wish him all the best for whatever he chooses for his life. He is conducting himself with class through this process as we'd all expect and he is a credit to himself.

It's a business, like Mal last year, he has to do what is right for him and his family. He helped us win a flag, hate to see him leave and strengthen a rival as he has the key assets we need but he will do what is best for him.

Mal leaving I wasn't too worried about form a football perspective as I thought we'd gotten his best years, as has been pretty much confirmed by his form this year.

Jetta's best is yet to come I fear and he would be a potent weapon at Subi

If Jetta leaves it would be interesting to see if Sydney will try and make some sort of play for Yarran. I know given the trade restrictions that it will be tough but you never know.

I take your point, but it doesn't really relate to Jetta - he was 20 when we drafted him

Won't help trades but might help with draft credits. Of course Fyfe may be so keen to play for us that he'll play for $350k. (Although I'm sure the AFL wouldn't ratify that contract no matter how valid.)
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

With Mal gone already, a departing Lewis would leave exactly who as our best kick? Really scratching my head at that...

                                Please stay Lewis ????
