        No.

It's because it improves our chances our being 5th, which means we play the first week of finals at ANZ stadium.

It's barry. It should be obvious.

Surprised comment, I thought Teddy got away with a couple of chopping of the arms with Patton so he was lucky, but apart from that I thought GWS got some very soft frees. Especially the one directly in front of goal after some mysterious ruck infringement. also many others around the ground.

I thought we got the better of the calls yesterday too tbh.

Eagles, Dogs - scoring is so free-flowing. Scoring for the Swans this year is like watching a rabbit giving birth to an elephant.

I'm with you Barry. I'm in Queenstown NZ and at dinner I had no wifi. At the end of the meal when we're talking about walking down to the lake I said "I have to check the scores first". I asked the Irish maitre d' and he said what football? I said go to afl.com.au and he said "what game?" and when I said the Eagles-Dogs he said "I follow the Eagles because I worked there for a couple of years - and all my friends are Dockers supporters. The Eagles are well in front with 8 minutes to play." I skipped out of the restaurant (and after skiing today, that's a feat).

Now it up to us to hold 4th - could be third if the Hawks don't rise, or indeed may fall without "let's slam a head into the behind post" Hodge and his "It's a tough game" coach.

while I must thank the Eagles for their fine work today allowing us back into the top 4, it really does look like a 2 team race for the flag now between the Eagles and the Hawks

Just saw the hodge incident. If the AFL has an ounce of credibility he should get 5+ weeks. Could have broken his neck!

It's late and I'm tired but let's say the Hawks play the Eagles in R1 of finals and lose. If we beat Freo that week, will we meet the Hawks in the QF?

No, R1 of the finals is the QF for the top 4.
Assuming the top 4 finishes as is, if we beat Freo in week 1, we get a home prelim. Hawks would then play us iff they beat the 6v7 winners in their Semi.

Imagine the Hodge incident, except Wingard is Hodge and Hodge is Adam Goodes. You can bet your life that Adam would never play another game of football. Just look what they did to him for a few careless slides. Dermott would be calling for him to be indicted and should serve real prison time. Anyway, let's see what happens.

Shame that Hanners is going through a slow period in form, because it doesn't look good for Fyfe winning the Brownlow now.

A few interesting things from the WCE v Bulldogs game:

Eagles played without any tall defenders. Elliot Yeo was the tallest at 190cm. There was some big scoring from the Dogs in the first half, but it didn't come from Eagle defenders being outmarked due to lack of height. I think a team can get away with 1 solid tall defender and a few around the size of Rampe. A backline consisting of Reid, Rampe, Newman and Rohan would be very strong in my estimation, with plenty of rebound, although I'm not saying that this should be our goal. But I'm not at all panicking about our KPD situation.

I was very impressed with the relentless running and ability to move the ball forward by Bulldogs. They do have a few stars in the making, but they also have a lot of average players that are willing to work hard.

I liked what we got from our younger players on Saturday. BJ, Rose and Jones are the kind of players that will play there hearts out and that counts for a lot. Even Towers is going harder. Cunningham has crossed the line for me. He's now a hard at it footballer that does more than just get easy possessions on the outside. I also would like to put some of the recent criticism of Jake Lloyd into perspective. Lloyd is now getting a lot more of his possessions in traffic and under pressure and he's going to make more errors under those conditions. He is still a good decision maker and disposer of the football. He tries like hell to stick his tackles, but sometimes he can just barely hold on. But he doesn't back down. He doesn't have the pace of a Cunningham, so he will have to get stronger and keep improving his game to keep his spot in the long term, but I think he's the type of person that will do it.

I think it is the most dangerous thing that has been done in the afl this year.

I was thinking the same thing about Hodge - he's been a dirty snippy player for years and yet he's revered for it. Goodes has done nothing like what Hodge has and yet gets crucified. He's just a nasty piece of work on the field but then he is coached by "Mr Whatever it takes"!!! Seeing as both Hodge & Fyfe have form in the brain fart hit me up stakes I hope that they both get suspended (that is if the MRP & Tribunal have the balls to do it.)
