NEAFL 2015 Round 21
Aspley Hornets v Sydney Swans Reserves
Saturday 29th August 2015
12.00pm
Graham Road
Trust the NEAFL schedule boffins to wait until the final round of the season to arrange the much anticipated Grand Final rematch between the Hornets and the Swans. After trailing by 31 points heading into the last quarter, the Hornets secured the 2014 NEAFL title with an amazing 50m kick after the siren by David Smith, a goal worthy of winning any Grand Final. Despite losing key players going into this season but the Hornets have done just as well - they will finish with the same 13-5 record as last year if they beat the Swans tomorrow.
The Swans have a very slight chance of finishing 3rd but that would require winning by a very large margin tomorrow (approx. 100 points). It is more likely the Swans will end up 4th or 5th and travel for the first week of the finals, either again to Aspley or across town to face Sydney Uni. Playing Uni would be preferable from a travel standpoint as it would probably be held at Blacktown, rather than making a second Queensland trip in the space of a week. For this situation to eventuate, one of two outcomes need to occur:
Now given that UWS have only dropped one game the whole year, the chances of Uni winning seem slim. However, the Giants have been hit by injuries in recent weeks and the team named to face Uni is one of the weakest lineups of the year in terms of number of listed players, so I wouldn't discount Uni pulling of an upset.
The Swans meanwhile are boosted by a number of returns and will field a much stronger side than the one that lost to the Giants by 80 points last week.

In: Rose, McGlynn, Hewett, Marsh, X.Richards
Out:
The precocious Rose unluckily gets squeezed from the senior side by some big names returning. McGlynn makes yet another (4th) return in the reserves as a last push for senior selection, and it will be interesting to see how many minutes he gets. Bird and Melican were also on restricted time last week against UWS. Marsh and Richards return to bolster the undersized backline.

Aspley Hornets
In: Dickinson, French
Out: Matt ARGUS, Corey WAGNER
Players to watch:
- Matt Payne - last year's NEAFL B&F winner's numbers are slightly down this year compared to last year's, but is still having a stellar season leading the NEAFL MVP count when public counts stopped a few rounds ago. Jordan Foote has been doing some run with roles for us and could be asked to clamp down on Payne.
- Eddie Sansbury - Leading Hornets goalkicker and 4th overall in the NEAFL, the former North Melbourne player is often given plenty of space to outwit his man one on one. Harry Marsh seems his most likely opponent.
- Gavin Grose - Reliable and experienced fullback who has been named BOG in 4 of his 16 games this year.
- Cheynee Stiller - Ex-Lion has been named at halfback but often plays through the midfield and can contribute on the scoreboard.
