Narrow loss in a QF in Perth that we could well have won, going in favourites to a home SF against a lower-ranked opponent... here's hoping that history from 10 years ago doesn't repeat itself this weekend. Firstly, I doubt if my heart could take it; and secondly, the guy who produced the once-in-a-lifetime miracle will be out there, but he's not allowed to touch the ball.

That night it was the 'Schneidermans' turn to thrill us all!Comment

That night/year/grand final really sparked my love for the Swans I thinkComment

I often youtube the Geelong semi, the '05 win and the '12 win when I'm feeling a little down. I know what you mean about the shiver. Particularly seeing the players just fall to their knees with relief, joy is incredible. Goodesy and Alex Johnson stick in my mind, and imagine how much it means now for Alex. AaahhhComment

Our greatest slogan - Nick Davis has come to save us!
Reckon it's great that he is our runner after appearing lost to the club. I remember an article in one of the Melbourne papers around that time profiling Nick and how he was non conformist, it was cleverly titled "A different blood type".
Apparently a lot fitter now than when he was playing!
And I still get the tingles when I watch the last quarter of that game, the 2005 GF and the 2012 GF. It's great to be a Bloods supporter.Comment

There are a handful of games in my 'go to' collection about the Swans, being:
- 1996 Preliminary Final
- 2005 Grand Final
-2005 Prelim
-2005 Nick Davis Game
- 2012 Grand Final
- 2011 game @ Geelong.
I'm sure the Nick Davis Game DVD has tracks worn into it in just one particular area - as out of all of those, its the one I only ever watch one quarter of.
I'd love to know what ratings he would of got for that quarter of footy under the recently invented 'AFL player ratings' etc - it is still the best individual quarter I've ever seen (I'm only 28 so don't have a great deal of historical background going back) from a player, anywhere, anytime. He simply willed us home with some extraordinary goals. Everyone remembers that last goal of course, but a couple of his others were stunningly good considering the pressure of the situation - in particular the one round the body from 40 out.
And as others have echoed, how wonderful it is to have him back at the club these days, after it did appear that there had been a falling out. We should name him for Saturday to play out of the pocket"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Just watched the '05 semi highlights - or rather , the Nick Davis highlights - on afl.com.au : I had not forgotten , but it was still worth seeing a 'reminder' , of Luke Ablett's brilliant effort to keep the ball in play . Who knows what would have happened if it had been a throw-in? I guess that answer could only be found in some parallel universe.Comment

If you ask Tim Watson, he still does! On Talking Footy he's always banging on about "runners should just deliver the message and get off"... Went so far as to name Nick as a major loiterer... I told Timmy to **** off. If he thinks he can tell Nick Davis what to do, I'm getting Daryl Kerrigan to tell he's dreamin.Comment

I remember that game in `05. My son now who just got his drivers license was 7yo and when Nicky got that last goal I picked up my boy and threw him in the air cheering. Great memories..Even Santa follows the Swannies.Comment

Searching YouTube for that excellent compilation of 2005 footage cut with Green Day's Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), I found Sydney Swans 2005 AFL Premiers - YouTube which isn't bad either. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment
