Just to clarify I didn't make that video, I stumbled across it while searching for Goodes on YouTube. The release date was yesterday so whoever made it must have had it in preparation for some time now. I just thought it was a wonderful encapsulation of his athleticism, pace, courage and outright brilliance across a number of years.

Great little video it is. You do forget just how brilliant, I mean breathtakingly brilliant, he has been, for so long. Thanks for that Ugg. Also, Faunac8, that Russell Jackson article is a beauty. Cheers.

Watching Ugg's video I've realised I've almost forgotten how brilliant Goodes was at his peak. In particular, that vertical leap he had before the knees let him down. was a joy to behold.

I'm far too emotional to write much in tribute to Goodsey right now. I can't see the screen through the tears that have been welling all day. Maybe later in the week.
Personally, I quite like writing that I perceive as being delivered while there is a tear or two welling in the eyes. So if you want to have a go, I promise that I'll say nice things.

Ive just watched the video above with my kids. My 5 year old said at the end " I'm gonna miss Adam Goodes. We was the best player ever for the swans".

Didn't know he had a partner as I have never heard her mentioned anywhere. Great to hear.

I was going ok, until I read this thread.
                        I have tears now.

Wow Goodesy. From day one, I knew you were special...
I've watched you grow from a skinny little kid in a baggy guernsey, to an outstanding specimen of a man man in the tightest fitting guernsey in the league.
You've grown from a shy little kid who couldn't say boo, to holding up a mirror to Australia's face and saying you are wrong.
I couldn't be more proud of you. You will go far, my little friend.
I hope the club find a place for you. Personally, I'd like to see you co-coach the academy with MickyO. What a wonderful opportunity for the kids to be trained by such legends... on and off the field.
It's going to be hard not watching you run around.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

People forget the 8 goal haul vs Freo
                            He could rack up disposals
                            Excelled in the ruck

I loved the grace he played with, the power he dominated games with, the heights he achieved in the game both personally and with our team. Huge parts of the blissful memories of euphoria I hold from sport over the past more than a decade are due to Adam, and I am thankful for them. Standing up for what he believes in, highlighting parts of society that a lot of people would prefer were not highlighted- I can't say enough about how much respect I have for him outside of football. I can think of few people I believe would serve as a better role model to my son than Adam, and I can't think of a higher opinion than that I could hold.

Adam's treatment this year has destroyed a large part of the childlike enthusiasm that I held for football. Every year as finals rolled around I have turned into the classic sports nut that watches every game- my family noticed this year I was interested in the Swans games only, and perhaps have watched 30 minutes combined of the other games played. I hope next week with the Preliminary Finals I absentmindedly sit down and enjoy the game before I start to overanalyse this year too much. I hope I go back to just finding joy in someone kicking a ball perfectly to where their friend can catch it, regardless of the guernseys they wear, and don't succumb to tribalism- if I find I do I'll just walk away.

For most of my son's life we've eaten pancakes for breakfast every Swans game day just because we once heard Goodesy did- it makes sense for a little kid to do that sort of thing, but for a grown man it's a little silly. I'm glad Adam helped me hold onto being a little silly for so long, and I'm eternally grateful that he allowed me to experience the starry eyed joy of having a hero with my little boy.
                              Where's the like button.

Agree with you about this season. The treatment of Adam Goodes by the football public has killed a lot of my interest in the game.

He was never one of my absolute favourite Swans (I guess we all have different favourites) but my any measure he's been a Champion footballer. Pivotal in so many of the great moments over the last 15 years.

I've been appalled at how he's been treated this year but he's got great support from those who matter.
