To challenge for the Flag in 2016....

I think the following needs to occur

    * A fit and committed Buddy Franklin, clearly he was not at his best this year and it affected his on field performances
    * More of the same from Tippett
    * Mitchell to make the step to elite level
    * Rampe, Towers, Jones and Lloyd to keep improving
    * A genuine Number 1 ruckman
    * A new defender to take the third forward
    * Heeney and Mills to carve it up
    * One surprise package....

The first point is the most important but I think with wise recruitment and a decent run with injuries we can be thereabout in 2016

If Heeney & Mitchell can step up another notch, it would be great! Would love to see them both dominating the midfield. Take a little pressure off JPK & Hanners.

I would suggest no matter who the personal, our midfield needs to be more consistent in its supply so we can set up a genuinely threatening forward plan with our talls.

I dont know why we'd get rid of bird. With jets going we are a midfielder short. Bird is as good as any trade candidate

Completely different types of midfielders though Barry, we seem to be okay for Bird types. Quite sparse on Jetta types. I doubt Bird would want to languish in the NEAFL waiting for one of Mitchell Kennedy or Parker to get injured. He's too good a player to be playing Magoos

Kicking goals is the most important thing the last three season no including 2015 we kicked over 350 and were top three in the competition this year we kicked 306 and were 6th. Hawthorn kicked over 400 goals the last four seasons. Hawks kick 426 Eagles 372 this year.

This is just a modest prediction no over the top 100 goal 50 a season predictions
Buddy 60 Always kicks over 60 2015 first season since 06 he didn't
                Tippo 35
Reid 30 needs to fill the void left by goodes who kick 25 goals this year if he kicks 30 next year its only the second time in his career to kick 30
                Luke Parker 25
Rohan 20 (capable of kicking 40 or 50)
                K Jack 20
                Hannerbery 17
Heeney 15 I know he kicked 16 this season but he'll be in the midfield more next year
                Joey 14
                Dean Towers 13
                Mitchell 12
                B Jack 12
                McVeigh 10
                Harry Cunnigham 10
                Rose 8
                Ruck? 7
                Mills 7
                Lloyd 5
                McGlynn 5
                Misc. 18
                Total 343 I think

                Loss 40 Goals
                Goodes 25
                Jetts 14
                Shaw 1

                needless to say I'm bored

same role as Gunston for me

                          50% forward
                          50% back

                            He needs to play back.

We'll have Buddy, Reid and Tippo for our tall forwards. Heeney is likely to stay in the forward line along with Cunningham as we are packed with on ballers atm with Hewett and Mills and perhaps Dunkley to be added. I know the coaches would love to see Towers make it as a forward as well. So that pretty much fills the forward line. Then we have McGlynn, BJ, Hiscox and Rose all vying for spots playing forward/wing. While we've lost a lot of run from our backline over the past 2 years with Malceski, Jetta and Shaw leaving.

It makes sense to me that Rohan is better placed as a running defender.

I'd like to see him( Rohan) play more midfield, even on ball. We lack explosiveness out of the Middle, he could be a real weapon there. Not a natural on baller though, and may lack the tank, but throwing him In there in bursts to mix it up could be interesting. When he strings it together consistently , whether up forward, down back or In the middle, it's gonna be exciting to watch. Hopefully it happens.
