I hope posters bear in mind that there is every chance that players read or one day will read posts on threads named after them. Some will have thicker skins than others and superstars will have better things to do than trawl through the masses of bloviation by the blogentariat.

Still, with younger, emerging players, and especially with potential draftees (like Dunkley) whose self-esteem and sense of identity may be tied up more with their performance, I reckon a bit of care and thoughtfulness with your comments would go a long way.

Obviously every player is trying to be the best they can and most likely they are working harder than we are to achieve their goals. Until they learn better they may be vulnerable to harsh comment (even if the comment is made in good faith or justified - indeed, perhaps especially in those circumstances ) and not realise it does not reflect on their worth as a person.

Also, when harsh, not especially constructive criticism is directed at our own players that can't be good for morale and might diminish their loyalty or love of the club.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

First round picks don't always work out Connor. The other thing is I think initially they picked too many mids and KFs. They tended to allow the backlinr to take care of itself. But recently they have fixed that with experienced defenders. But those defenders and their first ruck, Mummy, have a limited shelf life. They have to look at finals next year and make it not just be pretenders. Withing three years they have to play at least in the Prelim if not the Granny.

The other thing is they keep losing them. If you have an abundance of mids they are going to be starved of opportunity. They also have more KPF than they need and when the lads in the twos see they can't get a gig they will leave. The other thing is they have clubs like Pies, Hawks, Freo, Dons, Carlton all talking with them through third parties (family/friends) illegally and trying to talk them into going home. Believe me it is working; Rourke, Devon Smith, McCarthy, Boyd, Caddy, Adams and more. They can expect to lose between 3 & 5 players next season and if they don't make finals it could be up to 8. A side not going places soon loses personnel.

Aside from that I think harry would be a walk up starter for them these days. some of their fast outside mids are a bit shonky at times. A bit soft on the defensive effort if you know what I mean. In fact I saw some lads in their reserves that were batter outside mids than a few running around in the seniors toward the end of last season. At least they were running both ways and putting in the hard yards.

Any player that reads a forum like this on anything less than a BOG performance or a GF victory has rocks in their heads and I'm sure the club warns them off accordingly

Compared to Facebook, Twitter and BigFooty...I'm sure RWO would be the least of a player's concern.
