Well, well - Essendon approached Adam Goodes in their quest for top up players. As we would expect, he said no.

"Sources said Goodes was not interested in playing on, and if he had been keen, he would have sought to do so only with the Swans."

"Goodes is happily retired and working on the next phase of his life, which includes working with his Go Foundation and another Indigenous charity Supply Nation. He's also an ambassador for David Jones, Toyota and Lend Lease and is looking at other projects."

That's a terrific endorsement from Bulldog fan Sue Gordon.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I think Adam will make an outstanding AFL Commissioner but a couple of years away from the game won't do him any harm at all...

Yes, I think that was the part of the quote that made me bookmark this article. When I read it, I firstly burst out laughing, and then secondly knew just how passionate and sincere her words were.

That's probably right and indeed might be his preference after the hurt he endured last year.

There was initially nothing wrong with this thread. It referred to a story about a club champion until the topic was hijacked by Ludwig who included a link in his/her comments to Stan Grants opinion piece, which tells us that we Australians are bad people, and that we MUST read it. Before that he gave us another link that we should read: "Australia?s Day for Secrets, Flags and Cowards".

Maybe I'll start posting links to Andrew Bolt columns and see what the response is hey? After all, all you have to do is ignore it, right? I'll guarantee they'll get deleted.

All I'm saying is that non-football comments should be posted under non-football threads and that football related threads should remain on the topic instead of shoving political correctness down our throats. Is that too much to ask for?

Both links made reference to the booing of Adam Goodes, which has been widely discussed on this forum, so I can hardly see how that is hijacking a thread about the booing of Adam Goodes. It was very much in line with other links and references in this and similar threads.

I personally would love to see links to Andrew Bolt columns posted here, so we can be reminded of the disgraceful racism endemic to Australia. I think we should all be aware of the mountain that must be climbed to rid the blight of racism from our country.

Exactly. I would love nothing more than the chance to dismember Bolt's appalling racism. He has had a lot to say about Adam Goodes, every syllable of it wrong-headed and disingenuous. As long as it relates to our footy club and those who play for it or have done so in the past, it has a place in this forum.

I for one am prepared to accept that you are sincere in your views SSB, though I am not prepared t extend the same generosity to Bolt, who I regard as a self-serving opportunist. But as Swans supporters with strong views about the work of Adam Goodes both within and outside football, and about those who have both supported and attacked him, I don't see why we should be incapable of engaging in a civilised, if vigorous, conversation about it.

On 7s news on prime TV this morn .It appears that the Esserdon tried to recute Goods as a TOP UP Player. Seems he declimed.

It is political correctness when it's your opinion and many Australians disagree with you. This is a hotly debated issue with many differing opinions, yet you, Ludwig, et al insist on ramming your opinions down our throats. The moment someone disagrees with you, you commence these offensive personal attacks labeling people as bigots, racists or rednecks (your type seem to love those phases).

When will you realize that automatically labeling someone as a bigot or racist is in itself discriminatory and highly hypocritical when you don't know them. It's exactly the same the generalization and labeling of Aboriginals as lazy, or Jewish people as being tight and Muslims as being terrorists. Doing what you are doing is just as wrong.

BTW, this might surprise you but I am in-fact part Koori myself. I don't view myself Koori, Caucasian or European. I view myself as a person and believe that everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, economic background or beliefs. When I say treated equally I also refer to affirmative action. Yet for holding this belief I get labelled as a racist. I'm ashamed to say that I'm a Swans supporter alongside the likes of many on RWO and you people should be ashamed of using your club as a springboard for pushing your political agendas.

It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

Way to go to put a negative spin on what should be a positive piece of news. How about interpreting it not as avoiding the fans of Collingwood, but rather saying farewell to Swans fans at the ground most of us think of as the spiritual home of the Swans, rather than at ANZ.

Ignore the AFL spin. They like a good 'controversy'. It makes them feel relevant.

I'm looking forward to wearing the 37 t-shirt again at our home ground to honour our legend. Should be a great day.
