    Elevated Rookies

What is the situation with long term injuries regarding elevating rookies to the senior list?
Can we elevate 2 to replace AJ (if not already done) and Gary Rohan or are we limited to 1?

As far as I can tell we should be able to upgrade 2 rookies one for AJ and one for Rohan.

The swans website is a little inaccurate though in the player list because it is still listing Harry marsh as a senior list player whereas he was actually delisted and redrafted as a rookie listed player

Others can correct me if I'm wrong but isn't AJ now on the rookie list? If thats the case then it's 1 we can upgrade due to Rohan being out. If AJ is still on the senior list then we could definitely upgrade both Papley and Newman if we wish. I'm leaning on Papley first as i think he needs to be in the team from round 1! Especially with McGlynn out and his poor form when in last year.

Yea there was some speculation that he would be rookie listed. But that didn't happen. He was resigned last year back on the senior list.

I would think we'd upgrade Papley for the entire season, especially as I reckon he is a real chance to be selected for Round 1, and the situation with Rohan would be how close we believe Newman is to senior football.

Agree with this. Dawson was getting pretty big wraps from the first two games - he could be another to take Rohan's spot?

Dawson is a senior listed player not a rookie so can play anytime he's ready which I hope is soon given he can kick a footy well and long.

My bad. For some reason I had it in my head that he was one of the NSW zone rookies

I have a question for those who understand the list management rules.

As far as I can count the swans have 39 players on their senior list this year according to the website. (Although that does include Harry Marsh who I thought was actually rookie listed this year).

Assuming we do have 39 senior players does that mean we have elevate one rookie as a nominated rookie? Is this subject to TPP though as a reason why we may choose not to utilise this option ?

Also is it possible that we have already upgraded Harry marsh as a nomined rookie and that is the reason he is listed as a senior player on the swans website ( I think this is unlikely and it's just a hangover from last year)

I think the website is not up-to-date (not unusual for the Swans' site unfortunately). This is my understanding (and please correct if I'm wrong):

                        46 on Total List
38 on Senior List (including Alex Johnson on indefinite LTI list, Gary Rohan on LTI until at least Round 6)
                        5 Rookies
                        3 Category B Rookies

                        Rookies
                        Jordan Foote (45)
                        Harrison Marsh (31)
                        Lewis Melican (43)
                        Nic Newman (28)
                        Tom Papley (41)

                        Category B Rookies
                        Kyle Galloway (47)
                        Sam Murray (46)
                        Colin O?Riordan (38)

I have also understood that the Swans have had only 38 players on their senior list for several years now as part of salary management. I'd be surprised if that changes this year.

So basically we can't nominate any rookies due to salary cap reasons.

I don't think it has any impact on their salaries. They are termed "Elevated Rookies" and must return to the Rookie list when the player they replace is available for selection.
