    2015 TLM count - rounds 14 and 15

    Round 14 - Sydney 14.10 (94) defeated Port Adelaide 12.12 (84) at the SCG

    No Tippett, no Bud?
    No problem. Midfield maestros
    power Swans to win.

    Sydney 4.1 8.5 12.7 14.10 (94)
    Port 4.1 6.6 8.7 12.12 (84)

    Goals
Sydney Swans: Reid 3, Goodes 3, Kennedy 2, Parker, Nankervis, Jetta, Jack, Hannebery, Cunningham
Port Adelaide: Wingard 3, Westhoff 2, Krakouer 2, Hartlett, Gray, Boak, Ah Chee, Schulz

Brownlow: 3 Kennedy (Syd), 2 Parker (Syd), 1 Hannebery (Syd)
    B&F count: Kennedy 45, Hannebery 40, Mitchell 40, Parker 38, Jack 36

    TLM Votes

    5 Kennedy
    4 Hannebery
    3 Jack
    2 Grundy
    1 Parker
    1 Reid

With the forward line decimated by suspension, someone needed to stand up, and finally we see Kennedy start to up the tempo. Every RWOer who voted had him best or second best on ground.

    Round 15 - Sydney 10.10 (70) defeated Brisbane 7.7 (49) at the Gabba

    Mediocre Swans
do just enough to hold sway
    over lively Lions.

    Brisbane 2.3 3.3 7.5 7.7 (49)
    Sydney 1.2 5.3 8.6 10.10 (70)

    Goals
Brisbane: Zorko 3, Beams 2, Adcock, Hanley
Sydney Swans: Franklin 3, Tippett 3, Robinson, Jack, Jetta, McVeigh

Brownlow: 3 Kennedy (Syd), 2 Hannebery (Syd), 1 Zorko (Bris)
    B&F count: Kennedy 45, Hannebery 41, Rampe 35, Tippett 35, Grundy 30

    TLM Votes

    5 Kennedy
    4 Tippett
    3 Hannebery
    3 Jack
    1 Rampe

11 players polled votes, but the top two hogged the lions' share (or should that be the Swans' share?)

    Leader Board

    47 Hannebery
    27 Kennedy
    25 Franklin
    23 Parker
    15 McVeigh
    13 Jack
    12 Mitchell
    11 Jetta
    8 Reid
    8 Tippett
    5 Heeney
    5 Rohan
    4 Lloyd
    3 Pyke
    3 Laidler
    3 Grundy
    2 McGlynn
    2 Rampe
    1 Goodes

So, finally Kennedy starts to make a move, but it doesn't look as if Hanners is going to slow down. That's a very handy lead more than halfway through the season.

    And haiku!
    Love your work liz.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

When I started, haiku seemed like a fun alternative to a full blown match review - or even a couple of paragraphs - that we've been compiling for the last few years. It's more challenging than I thought. The interesting games, where you wonder how you can possibly say all you want in 17 syllables, are actually not the challenge. It's the boring games where you can't think of anything to fill that allotment. I've pretty much had the TLM results written up and compiled and sitting in draft form since December. But every time I figured I should publish some more, I returned to that North Melbourne game and my mind was blank on what I could say about a reasonably run of the mill game and possibly the most boring opposition team ever.

If anyone else wants to try their hand at writing one for the late season games, feel free to give it a go. I shall try to do the next four games this evening - -that's the Hawthorn and West Coast thrashings, plus the Adelaide and Geelong "Goodsey" games. I won't get much further than that today. So if anyone fancies writing just one on any of the Collingwood, St Kilda, Giants, Gold Coast games or the two finals games in the next 24-48 hours, that would be great. PM me anything you come up with. Just please don't be offended if I land up not using a submission - I might get more than one contribution for a given game, having now put out this invitation.

          Brilliant Liz.
          Just brilliant.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
