I wonder if it's a bit of a "horses for courses" situation with Towers that saw him dropped last week and recalled this.

Simple really - McVeigh HBF so weakest link at HB Jones goes out. Weakest link last week was Hewett, need more run against a quick Adelaide side so Towers.

McVeigh should of had a run in the twos and come back against the Lions.. These next two weeks are tough games could easily lose both

I'm a bit disappointed.

I thought Derickx did more than enough to be the Travelling Emergency. In the reserves game he was often in open space with no one around him and followed team instructions by bringing the ball to ground instead of taking an uncontested mark. He went to ground when our midfielders had the ball allowing them space to kick over his prone body. What more does the bloke have to do? The only thing that could account for his non-selection is that there are no modeling gigs in Adelaide.

Towers is a good inclusion. On on long grounds the FF and CHF can be seperated so it's good to have an extra mobile marking tall.

I'm not sure on omitting Hewitt. His family would have loved to see him play in Adelaide. It would have been a good reward for some hard work over the last 2.5 years.

How long will our 1st year players (Mills and Papley) be able to maintain AFL level intensity?

They both may feel it after a baptism on the long Adelaide Oval.

If they need a rest next round then Jones and Hewitt will be ready to to come back in.

I agree. Considering he has spent most of the preseason recovering from knee surgery and with the new limited interchange, I would have thought a couple of weeks in the reserves to build up some match conditioning would have been best. As it was for McGlynn. Or is the captain above that. I understand Horse left the decision to him.
