I thought Richmond were more even. Hanners and Buddy were our only clear winners on the night.

Just checking back through the results of previous years and we lost to the Tigers at the "G" in 2005 and 2012. Surely this is an omen!

Yep Ben Matthews was captain for that game and the one point win over the pies the week earlier when Amon ran down the last 20 seconds of the clock.

The one point win over the pies was my first live Swans game - we hung on grimly that night towards the end of that one, I remember Buckley playing unbelievably well for the Pies that night.

There was a "great" game in 1996 at Waverley against Richmond where for the last four or five minutes all 36 players were within about 50 metres of the Richmond goal unable to handle the ball in the wet. We were up by one point, and when the siren went an exhausted Plugger was lumbering along, soccering the ball towards the boundary line.... that was the spirit we needed on Saturday night.

Comeback game after injury I reckon. Waltzed on late in the first quarter from memory and then had plenty of it.

And around the same time of the season. We turned our form right around after that, particularly 2005. Goodes and Crouch missed absolute sitters in the last quarter.

Head butted like Ablett as he ran into the ground and got a free kick for it. I remember going beserk at that even 11 years ago

and if further "omen" proof is needed in 2014 we beat Richmond at the "G". I might have to check the odds on a Swans premiership this year

I recall that game that Rance and Buddy had a titanic struggle. It was utimatly Buddies four goals that beat the Tigers. I remember one contest on the wing between Buddy and Rance where Rance defied gravity and agility to win it.

In the return game at ANZ, Buddy was rested before the finals, and Tippett got destroyed by Rance. Rance won the game for the Tigers in that last quarter and got them into the finals. I became a huge Rance fan after that game.

Rance will get get his 3rd all Australian cap this year and go on to be the greatest KPD we have ever seen.

And it's important to remember he was ridiculed as being a dud in his early games. He was the Tigers' fans' whipping boy for a couple of seasons.

All the more reason not to write off guys like Aliir too early.

Yes Rance is a fine player, but greatest KPD - your having a laugh in my book.
