    Changes for R 10 V Kangas

    One definite change....

    OUT : Richards

The 'IN' will be interesting, my guess....

IN : Allir Allir (We'll need the extra tall defender to combat a tall Kangas forward line)

McVeigh needs to start impacting games.

Hopefully the 7 day break will help a few of those with niggles....ie: Parker

Reid would have played this week had the reserves not had a bye. There's no chance of him coming straight back to the seniors.

So if you have the choice between Reid, Alir and X who gets the nod? North are playing very good footy and the 3 big forwards are all looking dangerous.

They have two choices IMHO. Aliir in as a straight swap for Ted or they go shorter and rely on Laidler and Rampe to play on much taller opponents and bring back Papley into the team.

                Outs: Richards and Parker

                Ins: Aliir, Brandon Jack

                Rational:

McGlynn and Kennedy were more effective last week after a week to get over niggling injuries. Parker looks to be carrying a niggling injury. Give him a week off and he too will be more effective in the games in the coming weeks. We can also get more midfield time into Hewitt and Heeney who are looking very good.

Against a top team, I would go for Brandon Jacks aggressive chasing and tackling pressure over Papley's football smarts.

I was surprised what little impact North's tall forwards had against Carlton, who didn't have an experienced or particularly tall backline. Brown kicked 2 early goals, both on the lead and Waite was his usual self, where a defender who read the play well and has good closing speed is more valuable than height. Petrie had almost no impact.

Even without Richards I think we can cover the 3 with Rampe playing on Waite and Reg and Laidler taking the other 2. They're small forwards in Thomas, Nahas and Boomer, were more damaging. Goldstein kicked a few goals, so Tippett and Sinclair will have to keep him under control and stay with him when he goes forward.

Despite the lopsided score line, I thought North had problems keeping up with Carlton's quicker players who found plenty of space. Carlton were hurt because of poor skills and turnovers. I think North can be well beaten with pace and good execution, but there's nothing new about that.

I am leaning toward playing Harry Marsh in his first senor game. It's always hard to say how a new player will do. But he's in his 4th season and probably knows what he's in for. He reads the play well and has good closing speed. He can play on talls or smalls. I feel Allir would struggle against experienced players that are good on the lead and have a number of tricks to get those first few steps on an opponent.

Our Josh K, on Game Day, said he expects Ted to be back for next weekend. I've no idea what the medical staff think.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

With heeney, sinclair and rohan helping out buddy it would seem the pperfect fit for reid to play KPD. Had he been tried there before ?.
His brother is good at it if that helps.

I'd be surprised. He was KO'd far too easily for mine , which indicates his previous concussions have left their mark. I hope they give him a week or 2 off.

Previous concussions I can remember specifically are 2006 GF- knocked out by 'drug cheat Chick'. Last year's sling tackle against Port, looked particularly nasty.

Reid's played a few games down back and seems to really have defensive smarts. I think Reid's future is definitely as a KPD

It's important that Reid is back for the 12th of June clash with GWS. We have no real match up for Rory Lobb and Reid is the best option.

There are also specialist tagging jobs for Reid to do on Mark Blicavs and Westoff coming up in the next couple of weeks.

                              I'll try again:

Replacing Teddy with Marsh instead of Aliir is an interesting and plausible suggestion. However I think it is slightly more likely they will prefer Aliir given they preferred him last time and then re-signed him following his debut.

Resting Parker is a laughable idea. Perhaps that's harsh but I still can't see it happening.
