And for what it's worth, I'd rather play Reid coming back from a long spell than Aliir or Marsh or Xav against the unbeaten Kangaroos.

He says that about every player coming back. I clearly remember him saying that about Rohan who then spent three weeks in the NEAFLI don't agree it would be antithetical. In Longmire's interview from earlier this week he indicated that Reid had been training well for some time and that he'd been informed Reid was capable of playing big minutes this week. He suggested directly that Reid could play seniors. That was in response to a question asking for confirmation Reid would come back via the reserves. McVeigh came straight back into the seniors.Comment

Likewise. Only saw a little of Allir in the Lions game but he did not look ready for a big game against a top team to me.
Latest Swans Facebook post says "will we see Sam Reid in the senior team this weekend?" Links to a video in which Tom Harley says Sam is in "the same boat" as McVeigh, McGlynn and Rohan were when they were recovering. I'd say the signs from the media machine are pointing to his return.Comment

All the signs are pointing toward indecision and uncertainty.Likewise. Only saw a little of Allir in the Lions game but he did not look ready for a big game against a top team to me.

Longmire: Okay then, let's put it to a vote.
Kirk: I say we go with Reid.
Shaw: Marsh
Harley: Aliir
Blakely: Papley
Playfair: Brandon Jack
Longmire: Okay. It's unanimous. We'll go with Hiscox.

It won't work unless there is someone clicking a stopwatch with a satisfied nod of the head and smile on their face.It won't be easy, but I think we should bring Reid back and use a montage to get 8 months of match practice into him in 2 days. You know the type of thing; Reid being outmarked in match practice, fast handball drills, shot of skipping drills, Reid spoiling his opponent in match practice, Reid lifting weights, Reid running around in match practice, Reid running alone at dawn, Reid outmarking his opponent in match practice, Longmire putting his hand on Sam's shoulder - "you're ready, son".
We should just be able to get him ready by mid-Friday afternoon with just enough time for a quick scene with him walking along Coogee beach with his girlfriend - "do you really think you can do it, Sam", "I'll never know unless I try".
Probably our best option.Comment

I'm so afraid they're going to rip us a new one.
I'd really, really, really like to win this game, but I think the boo-a-roos are coming to play.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

I think we'll win fairly comfortably. How many games do we actually lose at the SCG? Losses there are few and far between.
And North are absolutely due for a loss. It's very very hard to beat the seriously good teams (like us) away, and that's what North are up against. And what we'll be up against in a couple weeks time against GWS.Comment

Yep they'll come to play - they'll be fired up by some of the press they've been getting lately that isn't giving them credit for what they've achieved so far, and being outsiders in the betting should get em going a bit too. Should be a cracking match.
It'll be tense, so I look forward to singing along to Sweet Caroline at quarter time for a bit of stress relief ????.Comment

We've won 22 out of the last 25 SCG games for a winning percentage of 88. The losses have been to Richmond and the Dogs last year and yep you guessed it the Kangaroos in 2014.I think we'll win fairly comfortably. How many games do we actually lose at the SCG? Losses there are few and far between.

I am thinking the SCG advantage will get us over the line, but North have been impressive, but I will be surprised if we win it comfortably. As for GWS in a couple of weeks!! Not sure how we are going to beat them ??Comment

IMO Garry?s only position is in the forward line. I have been critical of Garry in the past because he simply doesn?t accumulate enough possessions to be playing an on-ball or half back role. He only averages 10 disposals a game. But if 2 or 3 of those result in goals then he becomes very dangerous and effective. I was a bit puzzled by his selection last week. But I am happy to admit I was wrong.I like Gary Rohan in the forward line but he needs space to be effective. Enticing forward line; Buddy, Heeney, Gary, McGlynn and Sinclair (if he can hold his marks). They all bring something different.
I know it's regaling the past but who could forget the 2014 prelim final against North. Buddy made Scott Thompson look like a schoolboy. Let's do it again.
There is a reason why this forward line is effective. And that is balance. ROW?ers have been commenting all year about how balanced it is. We finally have a crumber in Papley and/or a fit again McGlynn. Two medium sized marking forwards in Heeney and Rohan, that are dangerous due to their athleticism and defensive pressures. Tippet and Sinclair?s ruck/forward roles gives us mobility and goal kicking options. And then there?s Buddy. Need I say more. So I am perplexed about the talk of bringing Reid back into the forward line. As we know from past couple of years, playing three talls is mostly ineffective for us. All we seem to do is bomb it in to the forward 50. To maintain the current balance we have, if a Reid comes in then a tall comes out. And to me that only leaves Sinclair. But I believe Sinclair offers us more in the rucking role than does Reid. In fact, I would rather have Naismith in that ruck/forward role ahead of Reid. IMO, unless we can find a role for Reid in our back line, then I would be putting him up for trade in order to position ourselves for KPD. Until his recent suspension, Lachlan Keeffe was developing quite nicely and Collingwood would be interested in a forward I believe. Can keep his brother company on the sidelines.Comment
