    We won the midfield battle.

      Hi everybody first post!

I think last week really hampered us, from the first bounce we seemed lethargic and they seem to be pumped. Also umpires were shocking, there seems to be a mandate that all 50/50 or obvious technical frees are given to GWS. I am not saying Mike Fitzpatrick made a suggestion but he does have a stake in GWS and he has always hated the swans.................... ...

People who were there what was the ratio of swans to GWS? It feels like the AFL are manifucatruing actual support for GWS.....

The boys will bounce back, Kirky will see to that!
Agree. Just beaten by a better team ON THE DAY. It is a very even competition. And if things don't go your way, then you can lose on the day. But we'll reproup, dust ourselves off, tend to our wounded and turn up next week.
People seem to forget what's the ultimate goal. To win on Grand Final day. The home and away season is the journey to the finals. And there will be ups and downs along the way. If we can get there in the top 4 with close to a full strength squad then we will give ourselves a chance at the ultimate goal. Which is what we are doing. Premierships are won in September, not June.

Yesterday morning , I met Marty Mattner's aunt , just outside Ballarat. She said he's having a great time at Sturt and that he and the missus are expecting a boy in August . I told her we'll be keeping an eye on him for a Father-Son pick . And if Marty ever has a daughter and she's even half has brave as the old man , we'll take her , too !. I told her we remember his courage and "That Tackle" in the GF , and she said she would tell him. What has this got to do with the GWS game ? Not much - just that it was nice to recall Sunday morning , instead of Sunday afternoon !

I would say about 16,000 Swans and rest Giants. There was a lot of red and white. And in the Giants Member stand there were heaps of empty seats.

I didn't think we played particularly well, but part of that is the opposition didn't let us. They won every quarter. The Giants were on song, and once they get in front at Spotless they are pretty much unbeatable there. No one has got within four goals of them there this year, and that includes three so-called contenders, us, Hawthorn and the Dogs. It's early days but their home ground could easily turn into what Skilled is for the Cats. It's not the end of the earth though, we're still third and 9-and-3. It's a good spot. Pity about Tippo, he is a big out, but we've been lucky with injuries so far this year compared to many other teams. At the end of the day, you want a top four spot, and you can get one and still lose six games in the home and away.

I was surprised by the amount of orange, maybe a third but really all very superficial.

It's all a furphy really, but a ticket and get a free cap and scarf, well of course they'll wear those horrible colours and that stupid name. Cue that dumb song being broadcast ad nauseum for literally hours before the game and the moronic "here come the Giants" chant from the sheltered workshop behind the main stand behind the goals.

I was in and about the Giants Massive yesterday and it was all very surreal. Below the Presidents Club and are not they a bunch of clowns. Some bloke with a foghorn voice who is an A Grade knob. Just a bunch of consumers rather than supporters and all part of the lack of real community engagement with building this club. Time will tell but the more I see of them the more I see them as a total house of cards.

They are an absolute bunch of happy clappers and it will downright embarrassing if they actually get a finals game at he MCG

Most seemed to think it was 40:60 to swans. But could have been more swans as for most of the game swans fans were pretty quiet.
At 40:60, that's only 12,000 out of 53,000 swans members who are diehard enough to travel 30km west.

More may well have traveled but were lied to by the AFL owned GWS Giants about how many seats were available. That is the most vacant seat sellout I have ever seen in my 40 plus years of watching footy.

Its going to be embarrassing when they play a final at home and its 1/4 filled, if that. I am sure they will give out free tickets to anyone but the giants are doing more harm than good atm. I dont know one single person who has any interest in them and 99% of their fanbase are swans supporters anyway. When they do win the flag its going to be even more cringey when they show up and only 100 true fans are there with the rest being hired by the AFL as fillers.

The direction the cameras are facing were full of Swans supporters with only a smattering of Giants. I was amazed at the bare seats in the Giants areas. About one third empty.

The club also needs to look at the policy of shutting all the gates and saying they won't open til 3pm when we arrive for the ressies game. Even though the ticket says otherwise. Have to walk up to Gate D, then all the way back to Gate A, which is a goodly distance for those with issues. Won't go again. Nice raking tho I'll give the stadium that. Very very close to the action and hearing them on the ground.

The boys were leg weary, that's for sure. Tough to watch.
