How good were Gary Rohan's marks last night..... he has such a great action, his timing was fantastic. And capped it off with four goals. The highlight of the night I reckon.

Towers will stay and deservingly
There was others who played worse but he has improved of late and as a matchup we need him to keep evolving as our outside depth is minimal
I think he got way too much attention for the wrong reasons vs the Hawks
Didn't horse allude to hugging the boundary was the play wanted by the team which towers did.......the sense of urgency on the next play was aweful by the swans
They did not shut it down and Sam Mitchell kicked the bloody ball off the ground half volley 70m !!!! That ball could have gone anywhere and 7 times out 10 out on the full
Towers soaked up the time tick !
Towers hugged the line and Tom almost marked tick !
If he did what he did previously ie bomb and the Hawks flooded forward after gaining possession everyone would have gone MAD
Right call"be tough, only when it gets tough"

25 kicks
37 disposals
Sam Mitchell
I wonder why we didn't try and nullify Sam the same way we did last game ?
Sam Mitchell was head and shoulders the best mid out there and directing traffic perfectly again"be tough, only when it gets tough"

I have been frustrated by Towers at times, and I do think he was a major contributor to us losing the Richmond game, but I think it is unfair to blame him for the Hawks loss.
I watched the end of the 3rd quarter (I think) of the Geelong and Dockers game where they defended the lead for the last 3 minutes of the quarter by kicking it to free players in the backfield. We were playing with 1-2 spare defenders, why was there not someone running out to be an easy mark for Towers to eat up more and more time off the clock? The crappy umpiring and extreme luck of the final play burnt us, but we just didn't have anyone running out to help Towers in the final two minutes, which was the same for Lloyd vs the Bulldogs. Against Richmond, we had Buddy on the wing free so I see that result differently.Comment

Re Mitchell with an eye the finals, maybe they didn't want to overplay their hand. It seemed extraordinary given we killed him last time with a tag we left him alone this timeComment

Thought Sinclair was alright, took a few overhead marks; hopefully a sign of things to comedoof-doofComment

I know I won't be well received for this, but my disappointment is already fading.
We've have 2x6 day breaks. A bunch of 1st & 2nd year players in the side, who only have a hand full of games under their belts. No Tippett. No Heeney. Laidler, Reid & Talia out - any one of them would bolster a backline that isn't the strongest in the league. Playing with a very inexperienced ruck division. Lost to the ladder leader. We've lost 4 games by less than 2 goals (not easy to swallow, but if things had gone our way a little bit more in those games we'd be feeling a lot better). 3 of the close losses were against Adelaide, Dogs & Hawks ... all genuine contenders.
I, for one, am still proud of the endeavour tonight against quality opposition. The loss hurts me as a supporter. But seeing the boys in tears in the rooms after the game ... they are hurting more than I ever will. We are still a contender in an even season. We are still a contender - for a team rebuilding on the run, by blooding new talent & restructuring in the absence of key players.
This pain will fade. The players will learn. A couple of decent wins will ease the disappointment .,, bring on Carlton
.... Oh & I hate the Hawks!Comment

I think we will finish 5th at the end of the season. People saying we should win the last 6 aren't in my opinion, taking into account the young players making some bad decisions, Richmond being our bogey team and same crud officiating still to come our way.Comment
