Hawthorn were badly beaten in the contested parts of the game. They got a lot of ball in the back half of the ground but as soon as they tried to attack the forward 50 the WCE defence shut them down -over and over.

The commentary bias (especially BT) towards Hawthorn was so bad it was almost laughable.

Well, Ceglar looks like his done a knee, but I'm not sure how relevant that is. And Lewis just punched Lycett in the jaw, but it's rare that Hawks players get suspended for that.

We'd be stupid to relax now.

Also helps that they're good mates with the umpires too. It's their trump card. Also helps they play the Grand Final at their home ground.

Very promising though that they were beaten by an inferior Melbourne side; to me that meant more. Everyone loses to West Coke in Perth. No surprises.

Agree, I wasn't counting chickens or relaxing - my observation was merely on the one match played Friday night against West Coast. Hawthorn remain a very dangerous team in the finals, particularly matches played in Melbourne.

I loved the part where Hawthorn's attack was cut off but an uncontested intercept mark at half back for the Eagles and BT starts commentating on what Cyril was doing well off the play.

Oddly we've beaten them the last two times in Melbourne. Strange.
