I'm sure the media said something similar in 2012, too. I think we all know how that ended. Bring it on, I say. The Swannies thrive on being the underdogs, they always have.

I think the whole crux of where Mick is coming from, is the first four words of the heading, which are......."I don't like Sydney". Full Stop. He's just a bitter, biased little man, who lets his prejudices cloud his reasoning. A good example is he way he treated Channel 7's Mark Stevens. Once he decided he didn't like him, he treated him like @@@@ in the pressers, forever. Well Mick....two can play that game and we don't like you either.

He's such a dismal piece of @@@@ - his thoughts are so simplistic and unimaginative (much like his coaching), even when being paid to provide insights in the media.

Fine to have your opinion and think certain sides can't win it, but he bases his comments re: Hawthorn on one game, and can't fathom the prospect that over a couple of years you can actually evolve your plan/style and personnel also changes.

To say there is "something missing with Sydney in finals ... their midfield, for some reason or other, doesn?t seem to be able to be able to match it" is just embarrassing for him. Other than the 2014 GF there hasn't been a final that you could say that about our midfield - really any final we've lost since 2011 has been due to missing important players through injury.
I still have vivid memories of reading an article in the Australian written by Mick the Monday after the 2006 Grand Final when he predicted a long term dynasty of premiership success for West Coast, and the immediate future demise of Sydney. The Eagles were wooden spooners just three years later, whilst in the forthcoming 10 seasons the Swans have made the Finals 9 times.

          That gives me confidence.
