Probably sees Reid taking his spot at FF. I think X has shown a bit but unfortunately when they ask to leave they normally do. Also unfortunate is the fact that IF another team is interested it will probably only be for a slight upgrade of a late pick ala Biggs and Everitt.
So we could have another two off the main list with X plus Nankervis firming for Richmond.Comment

In the fullness of time this years trading by Hawthorn will either be seen as genius, like their 2009 Gibson Burgoyne trading, or it may relegate them to middle reaches of the ladder for some time. Gutsy selling Mitchell and Lewis for peanuts!Comment

Club hasn't put anything out yet. If true Abe Davis becomes a really important player.

Melican obviously getting a third year given the way he talked on the club video and the fact that a player due to be cut shouldn't have a clip like that posted.
The wash up after 2pm Thursday will be interesting for many clubs including us. Harley talks up the draft, so anything we do from here is obviously strengthening the position of our 3rd and 4th round pics you would assume. But gee the pace of trade week is slow, given the number of players still to land at new homes the pace is going to get hectic behind the scenes including the Gibbs and O'Meara stand offs. Probably why we struck early for unders with Mitchell, gives us time to think and sweat on the other clubs minor deals. Still think Hiscox will get cut before the draft.Comment

Couldn't / wouldn't the Swans match the offer / try and talk X into staying?Comment

I don't think we will get much for Richards. I think he would be a good addition to Richmond considering they lost Vickery. I would expecct Richmond and GC should complete the deal for Prestia where GC throw in pick 30 and get Richmond's pick 6. I would hope for trading Rickards and pick 39 for Richmond's pick 27, but would be happy enough with pick 30 and an upgrade of pick 52 to Richmond's pick 46.
If we can put Nanka in to the trade we might add Richmond's 2nd round pick next year to the deal, so it becomes Nanka + Richards + picks 39 and 52 in exchange for Picks 30 and 46 this year plus Richmond's 2nd round pick in 2017. On a points basis it turns out to be Nanka and Richards for pick 18 net. That sounds about right to me given that there are not first round picks involved and includes a future pick. Those later picks are overvalued.
I would further try to upgrade pick 27 or 30 with a trade of Towers to Brisbane, who will lose outside run with Hanley going.
If things work out we could have 8 senior players out in: Richards, Richards, McGlynn, Derickx, Mitchell, Hiscox, Towers and Nankervis.
We could go into the draft with picks 14, 17, 19 or 21, 46 (to use to get Tony Olango) and perhaps we could get another 3rd rounder or just take Jake Brown late in the draft. So that's five new main list player. Add 3 rookie upgrades in Papley, Newman and Foote. That's it.Comment

That X has suddenly requested a trade would suggest his manager is holding a contract from another club that we are not prepared to match.
We shouldn't get caught with over valuing players.
From the values being placed on players this year and last year as examples, X doesn't have a lot of worth on his own so reckon it will be a pick upgrade and that's where who he wants to go to is critical as it will depend which picks they hold in relation to our current picks.
Nankervis late 30s at best as a simple player for pick, or worth more as a decent pick upgrade like 39 to 26.Comment

Nankervis has been linked to Richmond who only have Shaun Hampson and the over the hill Ivan Maric, so they desperately need a young ruckman for the future and Nanka should be a perfect. He's one of the better emerging ruckmen in the competition and has shown that in the senior games he's played. I feel we should get fair value for Nankervis, although that doesn't mean it will happen. We should be in a relatively good position on this particular trade. Richmond traded their 2nd round pick for Hampson 3 years ago and he hasn't done much until this year.Comment
