It's funny the more I watched the 3 videos of Florent games this season I can see why the swans would be after him with the first pick

The Allstars game he was awarded the best player which is an amazing effort

Our window is now still ie 2017 and I wonder how much we are taking that into consideration with players to be ready straight away if picked in the draft from our first two picks

If we want to beat GWS and Bulldogs in 2017, we'll need to be able to match them more effectively on the outside

He is not tall enough to replace Grundy or Aliir as a key defender unless he grows some more. He looks a great prospect but defenders are not what the Swans are short of. We also have heaps of small defenders in Mills, Jones, Smith, Cunningham, LLoyd and McVeigh. Logue is supposedly 191cm and I have used 188cm as the cutoff for calling a player a tall. English is listed at 204cm which is tall enough to play in a key position as well as ruck.
Logue is more around 193 or 194 cm. Some of the Combine stats were off by quite a margin. Besides, he has a great vertical leap and is an excellent contested mark. He would have no problem holding down a KPP position at either end. He has speed, endurance and strength. What's not to like?

English is a 19 year old who didn't get picked up in the draft last year as a tall midfielder. Now that he's grown another 10 cm. he's suddenly a ruck-forward prospect. He may well turn out to be the best ruckman to come from this draft, but for now he has hands of wood and looks out of place wherever he plays. Tippett is only 30 yo next year. He won't be a free agent at the end of his contract in 2018, so there is every chance that he could be around another 4 years. Naismith and Sinclair should be around for even longer. We can draft Nick Blakey in the 2018 draft. We really don't need a developing ruckman as a 1st round pick, especially in this draft.

I hope the whispers that Oliver Florent is in the mix for our first pick are right. That would give us several good options at our first pick regardless of how the draft goes to that point. All the sliders will be sucked up in the space between our first 2 picks and we should have a good selection of several players to choose from (and Luke Ryan is not one of them).

I think we are okay on the defensive side of centre. I don't even mind Mills and Jones playing in the back half for a while, even though I think we have good prospects coming through in that part of the ground. I would make an exception in the case of Logue, because he's a special type of player that doesn't come around too often. Otherwise, I would prefer we look for pace and skills, mostly forward of centre. Simpkin, Florent, Bolton, Cedric Cox, Venables and Hayward can all fill that role. SPP could be a great defensive forward as well as a scoring threat and should also be in the mix.

That strategy would see Heeney and Hewett move from forward to midfield where they are better suited, despite both being excellent goal kickers. There are a fair number of medium backmen types that should be available in the 40s, including Sam Walker, Luke Ryan, Bailey Morrish, Tom Williamson and Harry Morrison. Jack Henry is another, who is listed either as a midfielder or forward, but looks a prospect at HBF.

The rookie draft should hold a few good prospects as well. We are lucky that in a year when our academy choices are so poor that the rest of the draft runs so deep.

If we are to compete with the likes of GWS and the Bulldogs going forward we need to pick players with nice hair - preferably man-buns.

We can probably have a full quota of man buns in time for the pre season comp. I assume it's an interview question for all potential recruits to the Swans this year.

All the more reason to take Logue over English.

We had to protect our second pick. Else GC get a freebie.

I'm so nervous. I think it will be Simpkin, maybe Florent. I'm fine with that.

It's Florent. Great. He can room with his mate Tim Taranto.
