I really hope he gets another chance at an AFL club. I can't see us classifying him as a required player to be honest.
My understanding re the clubs that trade fair is that if a player is deemed a required player (i.e. there is a genuine contract offer on the table but both club and player agree to explore any other options) then the club will drive a commercial bargain. Nankervis would fall into this category. If the player is not required but respected, and I suspect Deano is close to this, then we try and find another club for him but don't expect much at the trade table.
I guess we might keep him on as a depth player at minimum wages but he's better than that I believe
