The better team on the day won. Bulldogs' disposal was generally cleaner than ours, both by hand and by foot. Their skills are outstanding.

Our blokes fought hard, it was no pushover. The early injury to Lance had a big bearing on the outcome, but our forward lines need either rejigging or personnel change or both. We really missed Aliir. Umpiring was very ordinary, inconsistencies galore, but not, in the end, the reason why we lost.

And now we turn to the task of building and renovation for next season.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

      You got that right...

        The umpires were biased
        They didn't play fair
The sun was in our eyes
        Eddie macwhiner tipped us
Lance was team marked and the umpires didn't pay him well deserved frees
        Everyone was tipping against us
We played against the wind for too long
        Bob Murphy jinxed us

I've admired how the Bulldogs have played for the past 2 years. They give it everything from the first bounce to the final siren. We withered in the end, but they kept on going. We shouldn't forget that they lost some of their best players to injury, not the least of which their captain, Bob Murphy. You would have backed our forwards in against defenders like Joel Hamling and Fletcher Roberts, but they got the better of Tippett and Franklin today.

The Bulldogs were underdogs in all 4 of their finals. It was really a great accomplishment on their part and they deserve to be congratulated for their victory. They're a fair side and have set a standard for how the game should be played.

Congrats to the Dogs, it feels amazing to break a lengthy premiership drought (and happy it was them and not the Dawks)

That aside, I love the Swans, but I'm not thrilled with the AFL today. They have an agenda, quite clearly. If the umpiring was fair, the result would have been different. Call me a whiner all you like, just stating some truths. And so much for the usually decent GF umpiring.

That gesture of giving Bob Murphy a medal, just made me feel a little bit better about losing today.

They were just too good. Their big men killed us...fancy Boyd taking all those marks.

I know Buddy wasn't right but he tried to take them on too much.

There were some passengers again...certain players just don't stand up. I won't name them.

No tv, radio or papers this week.

I'm shattered. I feel for those who had to travel.

I have to admit I left when the siren went. I couldn't stand listening to their song and celebrations over and over again.

Hold on? Did Murphy get a medallion? When he didn't play?
(I turned off with 2 mins to go and haven't been back)

For me Boyd was BOG due to influence alone.

Those who said playing McVeigh and Mills was a mistake were right.
We seemed to be missing a forward line today.

Murphy got a medallion? Why didn't McGlynn and all the other players who missed a GF due to injury get one too? oh Come On...this is just ridiculous...

At least we didn't lose to Hawthorn.
Absolutely sums it up for me. 2 or 3 of our older players just weren't up to it. For the money we are paying him Tippett is a myth in these big games. At least the younger players will learn from the experience.

Beveridge gave his medal to Murphy, it was a lovely gesture. He wasn't given one by the AFL.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Sad ... umpiring was awful ... but as I had feared the ferocious dogs were too even / good for us on the day. My concern going in was their attack on the ball ... some great scraps ... but we were unable to generate enough run or cleanness with the ball in the second half. Their pressure far exceeded Adelaide / Geelong and they had beaten GWS who outplayed us. Our new blokes apart from Jones (at least first half) finally found it all a bit much, the Buddy ankle & Hanners leg didn't help but bottom line too many passengers ... Tippet a major disappointment and I really wonder what he is for us. Nankervis terrific in many ways but who was supposed to be with Boyd when he took several marks among midgets?
George might have kicked a couple of goals ... but fluffs his lines too often. Amazes me he has had such a good run. Midfield slowed down but not their fault we lost. Kennedy, Rampe, Grundy were great.
Feeling wounded ... but well done Footscray.

I've said for ages that any player who plays more than half the games in a season should get a medallion. It's a team sport.
The would still rule out Murphy.
