I thought we were well in it until the Keiren Jack kicking in danger decision which ended up being a 12 point error. I felt from that moment there was a subtle change in the game and it was downhill from there.

I just don't think he was anywhere near our worst but I couldn't agree more that he should relinquish the captaincy and fight for his spot.

Yeah and we lost 2 out of 3. That's not good enough. If you're happy with that, fine. But that's not a dynasty. it's an embarrassment.

And we didn't get one free kick in q2 or q3? That's unbelievable

As hard as it is for the players, the job of the umpires must be even more difficult on Grand Final day, and there were some puzzling decisions at the MCG. The Bulldogs led the free kick count 12-4 at half time, with more than a couple of head scratchers going their way. The third term ramped up the pressure on the players and the Dogs were given another two or three questionable decisions, with a 50-metre penalty against Jeremy Laidler, and a high shot on Clay Smith among them. The Swans didn't land a free kick at all in the third quarter, and co-captain Jarrad McVeigh certainly made his feelings known to the whistleblowers. The below the knees rule also seemed to be abandoned with Tom Papley and Dan Hannebery both brought down by Dale Morris and Easton Wood with no whistle.

I agree with this assessment, I just don't think the Umps cost us the game

So if the Swans had 20 frees to the Bulldogs 8, we still would have lost by 22 points? I don't agree with that. Swans victory if the frees were reversed.

For all the crap non calls the we did revert to long kicks after short, smart kicking worked for us in the first half.

Cordy's a top man for writing that article given he was going for Dogs.

It started early with the non contact free against Rohan in the goal square in the first. It looked ominous then. Cost a goal, as did others. Probably cost Hanners knee. It was clear by the last quarter that the dogs were allowed slide tackles. Not sure that we would have been though.

The one that gave it away was the Jack one. The Hanners one was appalling but Jack actually had a kicking in danger kick paid against him. He didn't even try to touch or toe the ball.

I thought the umpiring was atrocious, but there's no way to know if the result would have been different.

As the game was umpired Dogs finished over the top of us.

And their joy at the end was something to behold. Rather Dogs than Hawks / Giants / Pies.

I really feel for McGlynn who was in tears at the end, but he now needs to go as do other older, slower players such as McVeigh.

Don't think it's fair to pick on Mills, Papley, X etc when they have so little experience. Thought Naismith was everywhere first half but our rucks went missing in second half.

                              Might feel much worse tomorrow

Agreed. In the cold light of day, no-one can justify those denied free kicks. We were robbed by those green streaks of pi55. Sure, we played like crap, but having the umps in the Dogs' pocket didn't help.

Our young blokes got totally exposed. Some not up to it. Xavier was carried thru the finals. Mills was lucky to get a spot. Hewitt went missing for most of the finals too. Paps had a bad day.
