G.F. Day Thread. Sydney V Western Bulldogs. MCG 2.30pm.
I'm absolutely shattered. So many emotions. I can say at the start of the year that I thought it would be a rebuilding year and to make it to the grand final was an achievement. But it does not take the pain away. Umpires, something needs to be done. It was so blatantly biased. Lots of free kicks missed to swans when there. Lots of marginal calls to bulldogs. Lots of incorrect calls awarded to bulldogs. What can you say. Something is not right. Qualitatively and quantitatively all the evidence is there.
In terms of our players, too early to single people out except I will say that angry little man McGlynn is just a squib. That is two grand finals in row where he has just been an epic failure. Time for someone else to have a go I think.
Right now the thought of ever facing another one of these does not fill me with joy...
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
This was probably our last chance for a granny for many years...the next few years will be dominated by GWS who are almost a certainty to win the grand final next year...This game has made me rethink whether following AFL is worth it...I will probably renew my Swans membership, but only to follow the Swans at the SCG because it's a good night out...I won't have any expectations for flags or follow the rest of the league at all..
This was a scripted Grand Final from the first headline on Sunday to today...
Well that sucks! Now my attention can turn to watching an Australian dominate the NBA, I might just go see how Ben Simmons is going today...
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
Our team was not good enough today we were outplayed and didn't deserve to win. Anyone with half a football brain won't try to blame the umpires or make excuses. Our game plan was found out and our effort was inferior to the dogs.
Congratulations and enjoy
They were good but every time they looked in any trouble the whistle boys would help them out with another free that directly led to a goal. Kinda sick in the guts feeling ,Never mind being beaten by a better team but not umpires ..feel really bad for Benny as this was his last shot ..boys gave their all so not like 2014...want to think we can be back here next year on this stage but with these guys and GWS it is going to be a hard road
Despite the appalling umpiring the Bulldogs were the better team on the day and deserved to win. We had too many passengers again on the big stage. We still have a way to go to win another GF, but I feel we have the talent in house to give it a go next year.
At least we didn't lose to Hawthorn.
Bulldogs were good, but if the umpiring was less biassed, they wouldn't have scored so many goals and not had as much momentum, so who knows what the final result would have been?

According to most pundits and supporters we shouldn't even have played in a grand final this year so stop looking for excuses
1. Congratulations Bulldogs
2. Commiserations to the Swans. Noone tipped us to get this far with the list we had and we proved them all wrong yet again.
3. Had the game been fairly umpired, who knows what the end result might have been? It wasn't so much the frees they got, as they were pretty much all there, other than the Jack one, but it was the ones we didn't get, such as Reg's non-mark, Rampe being held off it in the 4th, Hanners being cleaned out, etc etc etc.
4. So many of our guys played magnificently, and a few didn't. Special mentions to Kennedy, Mitchell, Naismith, Grundy and Rampe, who were all great. I also thought Jones tried really hard, and gave it everything.
