Well.
That was a bit @@@@.
Might've helped if they played the ball and not the man.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

But seriously though, my gut feeling from the beginning of the week was that, unless we ran away from them like we had in the previous two weeks. Unless they didn?t come to play, or crumbled under the pressure of the occassion. If it was to be a hard fought contest. They were always going to have the advantageComment

Our bad omen moment was at the parade on Friday. All of the cars the umpires sat atop were adorned with bulldogs coloured balloons. Not some in cars with red and white and some in cars with tri colour, or even one bunch of ours on one side and theirs on the other. No all of their cars were red, blue and white. Both teams had their colours on their cars. Small matter I know, but not a good look.
I must confess to being very petty here but something that peed me right off before the game was having Brad Johnson on the Norm Smith committee (apologies if this has been mentioned, I haven't read the whole thread).
Whilst I really like Johnson, I thought it was a really bad look to appoint a Bulldog favourite son and not balance it out by also naming someone of similar stature from the opposition. Micky O and Leo Barry were both there for the cup so why were one of them not appointed also?
I know that's petty but it really got under my skin.Comment

I noticed and commented about that also and my daughter said the same as Goswannies did, but my reply at the time was that someone from the AFL should have noticed that it wasn't a good look and did look like it was favouring one team, even if that were not the intent, and should have had bunches with no blue in them.

I think both Magic & Leaping would have been professional enough to be impartial in judging the Norm Smith, so wouldn't have been a "balance" if it was necessary. That's just the impression I have of those two.Comment

It's the same thing with allowing Eddie to commentate on Swans games when he has has slanging matches with our chairman etc.

AFL is extremely bad with managing conflicts of interest. It should not have put Johnson on the panel, not because he is necessarily biassed, but the perception of bias is not fair on Johnson. Same with allowing the umpires to go train with Hawthorn in 2014 or so. But what would you expect with the commission full of ex players from the 70s, 80s and 90s with all the salary cap rorts and all sorts of other dodgy practices, rather than being full of people from outside of the game who have substantial experience in business, law etc?
